Psycho Surgeons – Horizontal Action 7″

This is a re-post from September the 27th 2006. In case you’re interested I have a spare copy of this up for sale at eBay:

Psycho Surgeons at eBay.

There aren’t many bad punk records coming from the land down under the period 1977-1979. Psycho Surgeons is just one of many aussie records that have made record collectors go mad in their search for an original copy. The cover is nicely painted with real cow blood.

So think about it! What is the next step for your little obscure punk band looking to release a 7″? Hedgehog blood on the sleeve of course. “Horizontal Action” is the most comped song from this one but “Wild Weekend” is just as great.

Best record ever! I actually hadn’t heard the B/side until it was issued on an Aussie 2xCD comp a few years ago, called Do The Pop! There’s some duds on it, iirc, but also a lot of really good stuff too!

  2. The Flakes // Drummer says:

Yeah most of the Aussie stuff is brilliant! Dosen’t seem that there any of the blogs that’ve posted the first Victims 7″ eh?

  3. Burtoni says:

Yeah Do the pop is great!
Probably not as punk at the murder punk comps but great all the same.
Savage by the fun things is another classic

I would kill to have been in Austrailia in the late 70s! So many classics like this one.

I would have loved to be in Paris in the 1780’s!

Cow’s blood? WTF? My favorite gimmick is still the sandpaper on the Feederz LP. Didn’t it say to file it between your Beatles records???

  8. Chuck Foster says:

I’m drunk and I just wanted to see my name taking up the column of “recent comments.” Haha. But seriously, I’m actually very pleased to finally hear the B-side, which ain’t too shabby! Yay, Peter!

  9. Nathan G says:

These tunes are tasty like a pie with sauce and a beer on a hot day.

  10. Monger says:

Wonder if the band recorded any other stuff? seems that they could have gotten more than 4 minutes (but what a 4 minutes they are!) put down on to tape!

  11. Jackson MacDonald says:

As an Aussie its always great to see classics like this posted. also i heard its actually drenched in bullock blood.
I still think the cosmic psychos are the greatest most consistent Aussie punk band out there.
    Thanks for the post,
    get back to horizontal action.

Heyyo someone should dig – there’s no way this is it. The pinnacle of punk, let’s hear some sub-par tracks that didn’t make it.

No rules, just right, Australian for beer, Do you love me, etc
