Disorder - Air Raid 7″

Friday, March 31st, 2006

Not the glue sniffing Disorder. The B-side is completly worthless which is strange considering “Air Raid” is a complete blast. Compact, short and in your face. It’s been included on “Cheap And Nasty Vol. 1″ but something must’ve gone wrong in the mastering cause all the bass and punch disapeared. Too bad. It’s the same with The Jermz track there. To find the original press WITH a sleeve is very hard.

Offbeats - Why Do You… E.P. 7″

Friday, March 31st, 2006

offbeats_cover.jpgGreat and overlooked 7″ by Offbeats. Their LP is worth to check out too. Listen to the “One Two Three Four” in the beginning of “In A Rush”. Brilliant. Still after more then 20 years I still can relate to lines like:”All the fans who idolise. All the fascist in disguise. All the hypocritical lies. Music, sports and politics. Ninety-five percent is shit. It’s all just cheap entertainment. Everyone and everything. I wish they would go away.” from “Go Away”.

The Flyboys - Crayon World 7″

Thursday, March 30th, 2006

flyboys_crayon_world.jpgTypically “ahhh” voices that later became so common among bands from the Huntington Beach area like: Adolescents, D.I. etc. I’ve got the 12″ too which have some nice tracks on it. Only thing I know is that they later became “Choir Invisible” whom I’ve never heard. Anyone?

No illusions 7.jpgA really nice piece of hardcore from the early 80´s. To me, this one has got that true hardcore spirit without the metaltouch which destroyed the hardcore-punk in the mid 80´s.

Frantix - Face Reality 7″

Tuesday, March 28th, 2006

frantix_cat.jpgMore famous for their “My Dad’s A Fucking Alcoholic” this is their first effort. Fuzzy guitars, sloppy instrumentation, short songs and great looking. All in all this is Punk Rock! From Denver, Colorado. A side note is that I got this from the famous “scam artist” Rob Noxious(Guy Robert) aka lewdsnot aka zoloft_anaconda. Watch out!

Swell Maps - Read About Seymour 7″

Monday, March 27th, 2006

swell_seymour.jpgIn honour of Niki Sudden who died this Saturday we have “Read About Seymour” up for grabs. Listen to the needle hitting the vinyl in the beginning. I’m sure he would’ve loved that. Read the whole news here: Niki Sudden Dies. As a bonus I’ve also included a link to a totaly great out of tune live version of “Read…”.

Den ljuva ungdomen 7.jpgSwedish proggressive punk with saxophone…I know that this description will make you run a mile or two to avoid what you think is crap. But please take a listen to this - it´s a genuin DIY-feeling put to vinyl in 1978. Wonderful!

Buttocks - Kill The Pigs 7″

Monday, March 27th, 2006

Von Derbsten 7.jpgI violated the unwritten law to enter the shop in my hometown that sold punk outfits like t-shirts, badges, leopard-trousers etc etc. If you were a “real” punk you were forbidden to go in there…They also had a small section with vinyls and in the early 80´s i bought 1st MDC-LP, the Zmiv 7-inch and this German classic! I´m glad I broke the rule…

Shrapnel - Combat Love 7″

Dave Wyndorf who later formed Monster Magnet is one of the two geniouses behind “Combat Love”. A great uptempo punk/powerpop classic that makes your head bop. They released a second 7″ and a 12″ EP none of which I’ve heard. You can find this for a decent price at eBay. Decent means about $50. Produced by Legs McNeil!

Sods - Minutes to go LP

Sunday, March 26th, 2006

Minutes to go LP.jpgWhen I first heard this one in 1979, I couldn´t believe my ears… So intense, so powerful and that great picture-sleeve! The LP contains some real raw punkrock but also some more dark and melancholy songs. They also released a 7″ (Television sect b/w Military madness) which also is really great.
