Death Piggy – War E.P. 7″

death_piggy_cover.jpgRumours has it that the singer from “DP” went on to GWAR. Anyway this E.P have two great tracks and I’m pussled that not more people have been raving about this band since these tracks are great Hardcore. Maybe because their lyrics where too funny for the boring and serious HC audience. This record got lots of spinning in the 80’s. We love you fat man! Here’s some tasty info: ‘If we were going to see a show, what would we want to see?’ Well hell, we’d want to see barbarian mutants from another planet chopping people’s heads off.”

These guys were a richmond institution, and yes pre-gwar

  2. Renik says:

Those songs were rad. Fans of early Gwar would deffinately find this interesting.

  3. I got a chance to see these guys a couple times and they were a blast…

Dave Brockie was the singer… they used to open for themselves as a fake metal band sorta like GWAR… but that caught on more…

I remember the DP drummer kinda went nuts with a knife or something over a girl that lived across the street from me in high school…

wish y’all would post the rest of the EP

  4. parker says:

you gotta post the rest of this, it’s impossible to order or find. let me know if you do, appreciate it

  5. Renik says:

Many of Death Piggy’s other songs are kind of strange. I’m under the impression that whoever posted this only wanted to post some of their more punk sounding stuff rather than their weirder sounding stuff. Still, I can see why there are people out there who are curious to hear what the whole 7-inch sounds like. One could mention that some of Death Piggy’s other songs are kind of weird in the small article thing while posting the rest of the 7-inch for those who are curious.

  6. Jay Thurston says:

Hey,is it just me or does that singer sound like the singer for GWAR? Hahahahaha…just bored…sorry

  7. justin says:

I hadn’t seen that you had posted this as well Peter, I hope I didn’t step on your toes. After I posted it I did see some comments all of a sudden pop up on this post. Parker should be happy about my post with all the tunes, I’m not sure what Renik was getting at except that these guys are wierd and maybe you should have mentioned that, Jay is just being Jay. Funny how it works that way. Have you run across anyone who has their other two 7″s? While on the subject of posting music, would you mind if I posted the Raped Teenagers flexi? Let me know. Thanx for your time and energy.

  8. The Flakes // Drummer says:

Step on my toes? Ha ha hell no!! You post whatever you want :). Sure you can post the RT flexi if you want to. I know some have requested it.

  9. Renik says:

Death Piggy is certainly a great band, but some people may find that many of their other songs, besides the ones posted here, are pretty strange, especially the songs on the other two 7-inches. I guess that is what I was getting at.

the other DEATH PIGGY double-7″e.p. with the bordeaux-beige coloured cover that came out ca.1 year earlier or later than this one (D.S.I. records also) is also pretty good and weird. They were on the funnier side of Hard Core-PuNk (member Dave B. can be seen in AMERICAN HARDCORE film)
No wonder some members later made up the band GWAR!It would be great if this other dbl-7″e.p. would be posted,as I recall it being equally cool, but somehow that other D.P.-release does not turn up often or I just haven´t seen it.Anyone knows a blog or/and more info´s about that one?

  12. The Flakes // Drummer says:

Never heard of or seen that one and it’s not mentioned in the DSI disco:

Could be “Death rules the fair way” 7″ you’re thinking about Behjan? Released in ’85 I think.

  13. b e h j a n says:

Peter, the copy I had was NOT a gate-fold sleeve (simple cover with beige-bordeaux colour artwork,on DSI) and two 7″s were stuffed in it.
I was looking in the DEMENTLIEU PUNK ARCHIVES to make sure to discover it there but it is not there as you also say…It could be the “Death Rules The Fair Way” 7″e.p., but my copy had in fact TWO 7″s stuffed in.As I got it ca.1990 and only had it in my collection for a short time,I can´t say what´s the scoop.
I vaguely recall the two 7″e.p.´s in the cover each had the same label designs, but can´t confirm. If someone out there can shed some light…

  14. b e h j a n says:

Just googled and came up with this:
it is in bordeaux-white sleeve, NOT on D.S.I. ,but on the obscure SLUGTRAIL RECORDS (in 1985)… and in fact is a TWO-SET 7″e.p. :
    http://www.spookykids.net/gwar/deathpiggy/fairway.html

  15. b e h j a n says:

sorry for my “comments-overkill” today but I got the above URL wrong.
Here is the URL to the site that tells the DEATH PIGGY story and where you can click to the “Death Rules The Fair Way” dbl.7″e.p. and view the sleeve:
    http://www.spookykids.net/gwar/deathpiggy/piggy.html

  16. Dirk says:

Well, My copy of Fairway says C1986. Labeld esign is identical on both records but one is gold and the other is silver.
There you go Behjan, wer haette das gedacht.

  17. b e h j a n says:

Dirk M. in Canada? If so,great it´s THE Dirk:) Osnabrück rules!
And finally someone set this record straight. No more “comments-overkill”
    I promise,ha
