Bleach Boys – Stocking Clad… E.P. 12″

bleach_boys_stocking.jpgIt’s hard to believe that this was released in 1978. Proto Hardcore just as The Middle Class from the same year. Add to that a very Jello sounding style of vocals on the “Stocking Clad…”. From Detour Records:”Formed towards the end of 1976, the Bleach Boys were the first punk band to exist in the North Herts area. Their first gig under the name “The Fur Coughs”, took place some months later and was a support spot to “Ultravox” at the local college, a gig marked by chaos and an awful lot of alcohol.” Click click: The Official Bleach Boys Site. Their 7inch “Chloroform” from 1978 is great too but nowhere this madness. Rumour has it that the cover girl is Maggie Thatchers daughter!

Check out the comments for correct info on the release year. Thanks James/Worthless Thrash!

  1. James says:

This wasn’t released in 1978, I’ve seen it listed as anything between 1982 and 1985, the recent Bleach Boys comp CD “Brain Plugin Spaghetti” says it’s from 1983, so mystery over! This is great but doesn’t touch the “Chloroform” 7″ or the even better B-side “You’ve Got Nothing”.

  2. The Flakes // Drummer says:

I was confused too. I’ve heard 1980 before but took the information from the “punk77” site.

  3. James says:

Paul got it wrong, I’ve always guessed 1983 without being certain, now we all know. Haven’t got a copy of this, only on CDR, i take it there’s no date on the label?

  4. The Flakes // Drummer says:

No there’s no date on the label. Looked at the matrix number and in the International Discography Of The New Wave too.

  5. Anonymous says:

i remember seeing in record shops new around 84-85,and i always thought it was from around that period and not 78.shame i was too poor back then.

  6. Speed says:

Oh my goodness, “That Neutron Taste” is one of the most gonzo fucking tracks I’ve ever heard. Unforgettable.

I wanna die in a nuclear war
    F-111’s what I’m waitin’ for!

  7. phnuff says:

Yer, it wasn’t around in 78 – more like mid eighties with the track Stocking Clad written to win a bet with a studio owner. It was recorded in Potters Bar Nr London and engineered by a bloke who used to drum for Alvin Stardust
