Bleach Boys - Stocking Clad… E.P. 12″

Friday, May 19th, 2006

bleach_boys_stocking.jpgIt’s hard to believe that this was released in 1978. Proto Hardcore just as The Middle Class from the same year. Add to that a very Jello sounding style of vocals on the “Stocking Clad…”. From Detour Records:”Formed towards the end of 1976, the Bleach Boys were the first punk band to exist in the North Herts area. Their first gig under the name “The Fur Coughs”, took place some months later and was a support spot to “Ultravox” at the local college, a gig marked by chaos and an awful lot of alcohol.” Click click: The Official Bleach Boys Site. Their 7inch “Chloroform” from 1978 is great too but nowhere this madness. Rumour has it that the cover girl is Maggie Thatchers daughter!

Check out the comments for correct info on the release year. Thanks James/Worthless Thrash!

New Models - Permanent Vacation 7″

Thursday, May 18th, 2006

newmodels_permanent.jpgProduced by Ric Ocasek from The Cars. And according to a post here:”Casey from New Models played guitar in Slapshot for a brief time.” From Boston. “The New Models caught their first big break when they attracted the attention of the Cars’ David Robinson, who asked them to open for the Cars at their 1980 Boston Garden concert. A series of favorable reviews was followed by circulation of a tape produced by Ric Ocasek at his newly opened Synchro Sound Studio. The tape, consisting of the tunes “Permanent Vacation” and -”Shattered Windows,” became a local hit, but, in absence of any vinyl product, interest in the band soon died out.” From Rob Noxious(lewdsnot, zoloft_anaconda) trade theft and therefore I have no sleeve.

Waitresses - Clones 7″

Thursday, May 18th, 2006

waitresses.jpgFrom Akron, Ohio I’ll give you Waitresses. I’ve heard later stuff but not as good as “Clones”. What to expect from a band from Ohio if not some weird shit? Keep an ear open for Tin Huye too! They did some awesome tracks in the 70’s. Check out the Waitresses website: here.

United Mutation - Fugitive Family E.P. 7″

Thursday, May 18th, 2006

united_mutation_fugitive.jpgUp there with all the classic early Dischord 7inches! Mike Browns voice is growly and just fantastic. The Punk Vault did a feature on UM but only had “Passout” for download and I love this record too much that I just have to post all the tracks. From The Punk Vault: “We played our first party as UM Halloween of ‘82 with Media Disease (later Malefice, MFD, Mainline, etc.) We also recorded our next demo, featuring Mike B on vocals and Mike S on drums, recorded at Inner Ear and produced by Bert Quiroz (Double-O, Second Wind).

Silly Killers - Knife Manul E.P. 7″

Thursday, May 18th, 2006

silly_killers.jpg“Killed By Death Vol. 12″ has “Knife Manual” but “Social Bitch” is the killer track! From Hyped 2 Death: “TheSilly Killers were the last of three terrific punk bands on the excellent No Threes label to share a drummer named Duff McKagan. His later career in Guns’n'Roses probably kept more punks from checking out “Knife Manual” than it attracted Leader Chris “Slats” Harvey now helms a band called Pain Cocktail.” All tracks goes out to Brian from Portland who lost his whole collection and this is one of his requests.

The Vicious - Suicidal Generation 7″

Wednesday, May 17th, 2006

vicious_suicidal.jpgIt’s something coocking in Sweden. You’ve heard “Knugen Faller” before and here’s “The Vicious”. Has “Sara Almgren” who played keyboard in “T(i)NC”. Heard they’re in USA right now on a tour so here’s a little plug to check ‘em out. Vicious have an LP out too that I still haven’t heard.

The Jermz - Power Cut 7″

Wednesday, May 17th, 2006

jermz_cover.jpgFrom Dizzy at Detour Records: “The actual studio was also responsible for the two classic releases by another local band “Sema 4″ as well as ‘Xpress’. The actual studio time was paid for my a local record shop called “Feelgood” Records and it was produced by ‘Urban Blitz’ of Doctors Of Madness who had travelled up from London especially to produce it.“. On the labels you can read “Ripping Off Prohibited” so here we go. Counting in in German is a strong mark of true punk rock as well as slightly out of tuned guitar and bass. Got a spare to trade/sell!

Ovenmen - Rock Against Racism E.P. 7″

Tuesday, May 16th, 2006

ovenmen.jpgSearching Google gives you nothing on Ovenmen. This band has been a mystery to me since 2003 when I first stumbled upon it in Copenhagen at a record shop named “Route 66″. Apparently this was a one man project cause the adress on the back reads: “Louis(Ovenman) Lopes, 144 Broadway 6thfl, Williamsburg N.Y 11211″ with the help of “Mark Maniac” on keyboards, rythm box and vocals. Another note on the back of the sleeve he thanks some former members who was in the band in Boston between 77-78 then called “Ovenman And The Roasters”. Great stuff!
