Victim - The Teen Age E.P. 7″

Tuesday, May 16th, 2006

victim_teenage.jpgVictim from Ireland with their second 7inch(From James at Worthless Trash:”This is actually the 3rd 7″, the 2nd was “Why Are Fire Engines Red” on TJM”) produced by Rat Scabies from The Damned. “The Teen Age” is anthemic punk rock that is hard to resist. Topped with a great cover by Bowie:”Hang On To Yourself”. Fill me in about the Victim please. First 7inch was released by Good Vibration Records.

The Statics - Rebel Like Me E.P. 7″

Tuesday, May 16th, 2006

statics_rebel.jpgObscure trio from Canada that recorded the titel track and the second track to be included on a compilation called “Missussauga Live”. The Statics where the only punk act on that comp. Canadas Ugly Pop Records released these two tracks and a third one on a 7inch in 2001. “Rebel Like Me” is the only great song. And what a song it is. The second one is bad rock n roll and the third is poor heavy metal. “…the struggle to bring punk rock to Mississauga was an uphill battle all the the way, and in late summer/early fall of 1981 The Statics packed it in. Mississauga’s lone punk rock sons were no more.”

The Survivors - Baby Come Back 7″

Monday, May 15th, 2006

survivors_baby.jpgHere’s an Australian band that I know nothing about. The label says it was recorded in Brisbane so I assume that’s where they came from. Found a “discography” from Inner City Sound. Very Sex Pistols influnced but manage to pull it off the right way.

Jack And The Rippers - Safe And Secure 7″

Monday, May 15th, 2006

jack_safeandsecure.jpgMeant to be Jacks second 7inch after “No Desire”. Not released until 2003 as a “fan club” issue of 500 copies. In my opinion “Don’t Pretend” is better then “No Desire”. Yes you read right BETTER! The tracks here are much rawer and actually catchier. When “No Desire” leans more towards powerpop this is pure Punk Rock. Great!

Heart Attack - God Is Dead E.P. 7″

Monday, May 15th, 2006

heart_attack_god.jpgOn “Killed By Death Vol. 4″ you’ll find “God Is Dead” who’s also on the classic Roir compilation cassete “New York Thrash”. But the two tracks on the a-side is really great too and often forgotten. Here you’ll have ‘em. Heart Attack relesead two 12″ E.P.’s that is great as well but not as archaic as their first 7inch.

Sado Nation - We’re Not Equal LP

Friday, May 12th, 2006

sadonation_werenotequal.jpgI couldn’t hold myself back. Just had to post this classic LP. Was about to suspend “Jonny Paranoid”, the only bad track, but I’m in a good mood today so you get that one too. Sado Nation is still playing and here’s an excerpt from their Myspace.com page:“Music had turned into a corporate nightmare during the 70’s . Disco turned the masses into weak sheep. Rock retreated to the underground, barely visible. The loss of rock to a commercial machine was bothersome, but not debilatating to Dave Corboy. While the years in art school passed, Corboy had been writing songs. These songs would become the basic ground work for a new band…”. Outstanding tracks are: Aramgeddon, Industrial Revolution and Cut Off The Cord. The only complaint I have is that I wish Dave sang more songs.

The Clerks - No Good For Me 7″

Thursday, May 11th, 2006

clerks_nogood.jpgThe ROK label is quite famous to have released some great one off 7inches. All accompanied with the incredible top notch looking ROK paper bag. Guess it was a matter of money. Another call for Low Down Steve here since searching Google didn’t gave me much information except that some japanese collectors are looking for this and that it was on “Powerpearls Vol. 1″. It’s a split with “Hazard” with a track that is just bad. But with a needle you can easily erase it.
