The Damned - Neat Neat Neat

Friday, May 5th, 2006

I might getting old. And I did grow up with this so maybe it’s just me that find this much more inspiring that most punk nowadays. Is it just nostalgia that pulls the right triggers when I watch this? I really hate to become that old wise guy that is moaning about the past beeing much better. What do you young kids think? This clip is from some show in 1977.

Hates - Panacea E.P. 12″

Friday, May 5th, 2006

hates_panacea.jpgIn the last post I complained about what a dissapointment The Hates debute 7inch was. So what a suprise it was to get hold of their 1982 12inch E.P. “Panacea”!! A killer? You guessed it! The Hates is still active but with the only original member beeing Christian Arnheiter, in his 50s and now wearing a huge green mohawk. Here’s a snippet from their bio:”Shocked and intrigued by the news of the People’s Temple tragedy in Guyana, (more than 900 of the Reverend Jim Jones’ followers committed mass-suicide) the band made its first gig and live studio recording as “The Guyana Boys Choir”. Read the whole story here! My vote for best track goes to “Science’s Fiction” though it’s a tuff call. Listen to the fantastic scream in “Cut The Shit” in the end of the bridge(1:32):”Here come the forces of evil”.

The Hates - No Talk In The ’80s

Wednesday, May 3rd, 2006

The 7inch version of “No Talk…” was a big dissapointment when I first heard it since I’ve read that it should be such a classic. They should’ve used this rehearsel version instead from 1978.

Clive Culbertson - Time To Kill 7″

Tuesday, May 2nd, 2006

clive_timetokill_cover.jpgAnother one that I heard over at Steves Low Down Kids some years ago and just had to have. After I got it the TVEye // Drummer told me that he’ve had that one for years but hadn’t played it for a long time since the cover looked like some country and western 7inch. Clive is now a druid. I managed to get hold of him some years ago and he told me a friend of him had a stack of these so he would dig one up and send it to me. I guess Clive found out how rare it was cause he never sent me one. Clive was also in The Sweat that released some decent singles.
