Career Suicide/Jed Whitey LP 12″

Saturday, June 24th, 2006

career_jed_sleeve.jpgFor all you old bastards who lost your trust in HC many years ago when HC got synonumus with Metal and general crap mostly from the NY scene. Here’s a Canadian band that I got introduced to by Per Thunell(Filthy Christians, Protes Bengt and now in a great HC band called Bruce Banner) last year. I almost shit my pants when hearing this. At last a great HC band that sounds like HC and not metal!

CS vocalist sure sounds alot like FU’S John Sox. But all in all this is just plain awesome and now I’m enthusiastic about HC again too. And NO this isn’t just a rehash of the good old days. Actually this is in many parts better then many old HC bands you worship. Just admit it! Isn’t it great when kids can inspire old farts who was responsible for the inspiration for them.

Stand out track: It Takes One To Know! That tracks makes me…ARGGGGH!! For those of you who’re not too keen on the HC stuff still might enjoy: There’s Something Wrong With You. From Toronto, Canada. Website: www.careersuicide.net.

CS if you need a drummer sometime please give me a call!

Tyrades – I Am Homicide 7″

Thursday, June 22nd, 2006

tyrades_homicide.jpgThanks to Harrys post of a Tyrades video that I’m going to post right after this I fell totally in love with this band. Hope you people can fill me in about the Tyrades. Haven’t heard anything besides this 7inch and read that the other stuff shouldn’t be as hooky as this. Sure it’s a big nod to old punk BUT this is done with taste and sounds fresh. Fuck The Briefs here’s the Tyrades!

UHF – Cavalos de Corrida 7″

Thursday, June 22nd, 2006

uhf_sleeve.jpgAs I was listening to Johans awesome radio station RadioObligato some weeks ago a track appeared that got my attention. It turned out I got the 7inch so it has to be posted. The b-side is bland rock n roll that is something you don’t want to hear. You want to hear it? No you won’t! Trust me. From Portugal and that’s all I know. This is just one of many great songs aired over there. Check it out goddamit!

Sema 4 – 4 From… E.P. 7″

Thursday, June 22nd, 2006

sema4_4from.jpgWhen Guy Robert Arcahmbue(lewdsnot,zoloft_anaconda) was at my house he explained to me how much he loved the Sema 4 7inch. He loved to play it when driving his car. Ha ha he don’t even have a license. I said that I thought it was crap. He then changed his mind and said:”ahh I think it was the other Sema 4 7inch.”. Why is it so important for some people to agree on the music taste? He was also upset when I played short snippets of his records and said right out:”No this is shit. Too long. I hate it this sucks.”. I saw in his eyes that he didn’t like what I said:”If someone said what you’re saying about The Lewd I will get upset cause they’re friends of mine.”. Ha ha yeah right.

Continuing the Dizzy theme:”Jock & Steve had both been in a “6th form band” called ‘Stratford Canning’ with 2 other members Dave (Fawlty) Sollitt and Mick Gregg. This was the epitome of being bored and we practised and played anywhere and everywhere during our 6th form years………………..never achieving anything – original punks I guess.“. If you’ve heard the version of “Even If I know” on the Best Of British Mod and compare it to the one here you’ll hear that they’ve speeded it up a little bit on that comp.
