Suicide Commandos - Make A Record LP 12″

Friday, June 16th, 2006

suicidecommandos.jpgThe band that influenced acts like: Husker Du, Replacements and have to been a big wehicle for the spiring Minneapolis scene to come in the early ’80s. Rumours has it that Chris Osgood(guitar/vocals) was a guitar teacher for Bob Mould. If then thank you Chris since early Husker Du have been one of my favourite early Hardcore bands.

In 1974 Chris Osgood (the godfather of the Minneapolis music scene), Dave Ahl, and Steve Almaas formed The Suicide Commandos. They released two singles on PS Records (which preceded Twin/Tone Records.) The Commandos were one of the pioneer US bands touring the country, having to book themselves by convincing club owners in every city that their kind of music would draw people.

The “Make A Record” seemed to float around everywhere as far as I can remember it. It didn’t look good(yeah I used to be a shallow bastard NOW I know it’s what inside that counts. yeah sure!) even though it had many songs so it took a long time before I picked it up. I think it was the TV Eye drummer who turned me on to this masterpiece.

Spy - Spy’s 1/2 E.P. 7″

Friday, June 16th, 2006

spy.jpg“If you’re fat you only have yourself to blame since you don’t do the pogo”. Stated on the sleeve. I think Janne(Korva) the guitarist and one of the dudes who works at our practice place “Skylten” in Linkoping have to pogo a little more nowadays. Putte the drummer went on to one of the more succesfull bands in Sweden: The Creeps. Ronny the singer became a drunk and now lives in Thailand where he runs a snake farm! I’ve seen Totte the bass player at my gym in Linkoping last year. He looks the same as in the early ’80s. He’s a professional musician nowadays. Violin? Can’t remember. Then we have Peter Kagerland who where one of the most important perverts in the Linkoping punk scene. Responsible for the the TV Eyes drummer introduction to punk. And he was one of the punks I looked up to.

When I went to my first punk concert in the spring of 1979 I sang togheter with Kagerland during an IQ 55 song. That made a huge impression on me! How he who I then felt been a punk for years could “lower” himself to sing with a little fat kid that was at his first punk concert. The line up at that gig where: WBT, IQ 55, The Baiters and Grisen Skriker. Great gig! Now: Enjoy Spys one and only 7inch. Peter Kagerland is in the making of a book compiling all punk rock 7inches released in Sweden during the years from 1977-1983. Keep your eyes open!

Revenge - We’re Not Gonna Take It 7″

Friday, June 16th, 2006

revenge_sleeve.jpgI know what you’re thinking! At last a song with Twisted Sisters. But it’s not. This is fuzzed out and somewhat slow fucked up punk rock from the UK. Insanely expensive and NOT worth the ridiciouls amount it goes for. Get these songs for free here instead. Remember to click the cover to get a bigger version. All tracks have the cover included in the MP3 tag so the only thing you need is the tracks. Neat ehh? I’ve tried to find some information about Revenge but came home with nothing.

Thanks to Scott we have a link to fill you in about some Revenge info: looky

Thanks to Rich he reminded me of James of Worthless Trash post of the first Revenge 7inch:

The Carpettes - Small Wonder 7″

Wednesday, June 14th, 2006

carpettes_small_cover.jpg“Small Wonder Small Wonder bonka bonk bonk. Small Wonder bonka bonk bonk”. Wonderful tom tom sound and one hell of a catchy punk rock song. One of the best Carpettes releases along with the “I Don’t Mean It” 7inch. The Carpettes are one of those bands that made some really really bad tracks and then all of a sudden some killer songs poped out. Like their first LP for example.

As a band, The Carpettes were hamstrung by not having an image, or a scene into which they might fit. They were really firing on all cylinders when they were expected to fit into the birth of indie scenes everywhere, and it wasn’t easy for them. The songs can’t be faulted . . .” They’re still around so check them out: The Carpettes.

76% Uncertain - Live At CBGS 1985 Cassete

Monday, June 12th, 2006

76percent_live_sleeve.jpg76% Uncertain was formed in 1983 by members of two other bands; CIA and Reflex From Pain. Both of these bands had released independent 7″ vinyl EPs the previous year.“. One underrated Hardcore band from the mid ’80s. How come? Their first LP “Estimated Monkey Time” got good reviews but they weren’t much talked about. At least not over here. “Estimated…” was spinned alot on my home during the release though it was a bummer to get hold even back then. So here’s a live show I found on a tape back from the tape trading days. Check out 76% Uncertains official site: here. Haven’t been updated since 2004 but… The sleeve you see here is a homemade one I did. Please don’t sell this at eBay.

lewdsnot, zoloft_anaconda terrific in 20 years time

Thursday, June 8th, 2006

I just want to show you all the silly behaviour of Guy Robert Archambue aka Rob Noxious(presented himslef as Kevin to me) and known as lewdsnot and zoloft_anaconda at eBay. I blocked him as a bidder on my recent auctions cause as lewdsnot he’s only purpose is to keep the prices up.

Here’s “lewdsnot” doing a bid war on Lost Kids - Cola Freaks to raise the price:

And here he acts as zoloft_anaconda(he’ve befriended a real person Fahad Nabhan to use his name and Paypal activities):

Dirty behaviour indeed!

Von Gam - Hasse Parasit 7″

Thursday, June 8th, 2006

vongam.jpgAlmost all punk bands in Sweden had to have at least one song about fashion. Von Gam had it. The b-side:Mode. Can’t remember which of the bigger teen mags here in Sweden who had this as prize that you could win in a competition. Could’ve been “Kamratposten”. Great snotty swedish punk rock for you to enjoy. From that little town named Klippan who spit out loads of great bands.
