This is the third 7inch of the classic Pointed Sticks we’re posting here. Lies is my favourite songs by them next to Somebodies Mom. I’m Numb is good but Nick Jones sounds a little bit too winny here and there. Quit wining and start screaming.

“Lies” is as good a pop song as you’ll hear anywhere, you wouldn’t change a single thing about it, it’s perfect! As good as “Out Of Luck” is, “Lies” should have been the song they did for the UK ‘Stiff’ single, how could it have failed?
Yeah, why in the name of the holy ghost wasn’t Lies choosen as the a-side for the Stiff release?
I love the bass part in this song!
I recently saw these guys here in Vancouver (1st show in 25 years). I didn’t expect much, but WOW! Really great show! Two (much) younger bands opened for them and the 2nd act was really energetic and sharp. I didn’t know how the Sticks would be able to follow them, but like I said – WOW! Nick Jones had this punk rock lounge singer thing going on. Bill Napier-Hemy played like a Fraser Institute employee re-living the good old days (in other words – awesome!). Tony Bardach played with a “Roy Brown” fighter pilot’s cap on his head. Gord Nicholl smiled through the whole show and took pictures of the crowd. And Ian Tiles (RIP Dimiwit!) jumped around and hooted snd hollered behind his drumkit like a 15 year old kid high on his first show (instead of the 50 something that he is).
It was a great performance. I hope they play again.
