<description>actually this record came out before Chris Spedding joined the group. The lineup is Ed Tomney (gtr/voc), Ernie Brooks (bass), the late Jesse Chamberlain (drums) and Randy Gunn on the other
guitar. Gunn left early in the Necessaries story
to pursue an unsuccessful solo career. He was
replaced by Spedding, who didn&#039;t last long, and then
Spedding was replaced by Arthur Russell, who stayed with the band until they fell apart about 1981. The combo featuring Russell made an album which was released in two slightly different versions with different covers, under the titles
&quot;Event Horizon&quot; and &quot;Big Sky&quot;. Although the Necessaries were an NYC band, neither album was released in the USA, they were only available as UK imports, and the album, without any promotion from the label or much interest from the band, made very little splash. Interestingly, with the recent revival of interest in Arthur Russell, few of the Russell biographies even mention his stint with the Necessaries!
