The Offspring - I’ll Be Waiting 7″

What the fuck??? Offspring??? Na na na na na… You’ve heard that idiot song that went mega big. And it’s so fucking bad it makes me want to self explode and fuck a duck.
But here we have The Offsprings first 7inch dating back to 1986 wich actually is quiet good and of course super rare! 500 copies with sleeve and 500 without. I ordered it after reading a raving review of it in MMR.
I’ll Be Waiting is really good except for that pointless middle bridge that don’t serve a purpose except to be annoying. Blackball the flip is good too except for the middle part. All in all this sounds like it could’ve been released in 1980. Classic Southern Californian Punk Rock!
Country: USA
Year: 1986

I’ll be interested to take a listen to this since I thought their first LP wasn’t too shabby. I’m amazed at just how crappy they are now. God, their lyrics make me want to punch the radio. And its not because they “sold out” or some such thing- its just because they straight up suck. By the way, did they steal Obla Di Obla Da (sp?) by the Beatles on purpose for that dumbass Job song or was that an accident. It is seriously the exact same song.

Yepp they suck so hard they would make the best blow jobs in the world. Hey, why don’t they move over to the porn business instead?
It sounds like a totl rip off to me too. But wasn’t the Beatles Obla Di Obla Da a rip off too? I don’t know my Beatles history but I think I’ve heard something like that.

Maybe its a “traditional” rhythm that everyone has borrowed. But even the backups that sound like they are through a megaphone or something sound almost exactly like the Beatles song. Its weird, there’s music you don’t like and then there are those bands that make you physically angry when they come on. For some reason the Offspring do that to me even though it sounds silly.

Like you, I bought this record from the band when it came out. It was a breath of fresh air at a time when everybody was going metal, although it sounds almost exactly like early TSOL! I remember telling people when “Smash” came out in 1994: “Yeah, the Offspring, they’re o.k., they’re like TSOL!” Little did I know what they had in store for us…

I LOVE this single. I keep telling people that the Offspring used to be really good but no one believes me. Their first album and this single are great!

Fun fact: The Offspring themself stuck on the glue for those records as they couldn’t afford it to be done professionally at the time.

Oh my! I have a copy that the Offspring have TOUCHED ;).

It’s a nice 7″, which I too bought after the MRR review. But frankly spoken: SMASH is way better than this! I simply love that album for its punch. And yes, I’m one of them who always liked THE BEATLES and hated ROLLING STONES (except for one or two songs).

I would rather stick a red-hot nail through my dick than to listen to the Offspring…and …Bon Jovi too

I don’t believe you.

YOU LOT ARE ALL SUCH POSEURS THAT YOU JUDGE A BAND ON HOW MUCH THEY\’VE SOLD AND THEIR POPULARITY. IT REALLY DOES SUCK THAT YOU ATTACK A BAND THAT HAS GREAT SONGS JUST SO YOU CAN CALL YOURSELF A PUNK. /Mike Rush aka Adam Wilson aka septicnecro

Offspring used to be considered an Agent Orange / TSOL rip off band in 1986. They looked like a speed metal band.

The whole neocon persona they are preaching today is nauseating. Income aside, it is in their music and their compassionless ethics that they seem bankrupt.

Ha-Ha-Ha! just read the Mike Rush characters post. who is this moron? disgruntled, dissatisfied and what have ye that begins with dis, he seems to be. can’t comment on the record though, cos i aven’t eard it, lucky me?!

I find this to be great, but I also love ‘Smash’. Smash is seriosuly a great album. Go ahead and bash em all you want, but The Offspring are an amazing band and Smash is amazing too.

You’re the first time I’ve ever listened to Offspring. OK, except those middles like you said. Always on target.
