Dean Dirg/Bombenalarm - Split E.P. 7″

Thursday, August 10th, 2006

deandirg_bombenalarm.jpgI saw Henry Fiats Open Sore(Sweden) and Dean Dirg(Germany) yeasterday. Sadly I missed Kamikatze(Sweden). Never seen Henry Fiats before, my band was supposed to play with them 2 years ago but they had to cancel, and my expectations was high. They where good but sounded a bit unrehearsed.

The highlight was when Rolf Revolt from Missbrukarna went on stage, wearing a Negative Approach t-shirt, and sang “Du ar inte du”. Then Dean Dirg went on and man the way they look!! Imagen all the prejudice you have against germans with hockey hair and moustaches! Awesome. Totally punk. And as a bonus they rocked hard as hell. A sweet night.

Here’s their latest record. A split with the not so good Bombenalarm wich is boring d-beat stuff. Listen and then buy all their stuff. Head over to the Dean Dirg Homepage.

B.A. Robertson - Flight 19 7″

Wednesday, August 9th, 2006

barobertson_flight19.jpgI really hope this post will piss alot of people off. Robertson had little to do with punk except that you can hear that he was clearly influenced by it in such master pieces as this and Saint Seanne.

And it’s time to give him some cred for writing some of the most brilliant powerpop songs who’ve made it to vinyl. “…the last Flight 19, (1982), a #1 in Iceland! This track inspired a ground breaking music video directed by Brian Grant.“.

A great follow up to the Kursaal Flyers post If you ask me. And the way he look on the sleeve! Wow!

English Subtitles - Time Tunnel E.P. 7″

Wednesday, August 9th, 2006

englishsubtitles.jpgFound this little master piece the last weekend for a few bucks. Bought it cause in the back of my head I remember the TV Eye // Drummer been talking about it some years ago.

Time Tunell is a track that you may want to place in the art punk category. But do we want to do that? No! Cause that may scare some close minded punk rockers(and we all know that punk rockers can be the most prejudice and close minded people in the evolution of mankind right) away. So lets just say this is great punk rock delivered with originality and great passion. Sweat comes as a bonus track cause it have some really great moments in there.

Special Forces up on eBay

Wednesday, August 9th, 2006

So what a suprise that just a couple of weeks later after the Special Forces post over here eBay user “akacrash” have it up for sale as a CDR boot: Special Forces at eBay. If you’re at eBay please do us all a favout and report these users: “septicnecro” and “akacrash”. All they do is taking advantage of people not knowing this stuff is available on the net.

I’ve gotten some cute emails from “NiteOwl” aka “septicnecro” at eBay and at the How’s Your Edge trading board known as Adam Wilson. You shall read what he’s writing about me on the trading page ha ha:”Hey Peter Swendenhammar since you won’t answer my e-mails, I just want to let you know that if you ever plan to tour the states and you happen to play in L.A., expect to see me there. You don’t really know who I am and especially my history within the L.A. punk scene of ‘81-Present. I bet Sweden is a nice place to hide out! You’re an untrustworthy dirtbag!“.

Well I’ve been quiet a nice boy but now I think I have to call his mother and tell her to bring his son home for some milk and cookies. You can email “Adam Wilson”(he don’t even dare to use his real name though I know it): bukowski38@hotmail.com

Kursaal Flyers - Televison Generation 7″

Tuesday, August 8th, 2006

kursuaal_television.jpgFirst heard over James/Worthless Trash. Formed in Southend, Essex in 1973. “A live LP, Five Live Kursaals, was released by CBS and in the autumn of 1977 we toured the UK with punk group The Cortinas in support. Every show climaxed with Paul demolishing a TV set with an axe…“.

Television Generation is a great attempt at punk rock from these long going guys. Sounds like a punked up version of Sweet(which is an old favourite band of mine). And might not be so strange since Glam rock had a huge influence on punk. And with that stutter on T-t-t-t-t televison it’s hard to go wrong. The intro might remind you of a song by the Sex Pistols. The b-side Revolver is a plain boring rock song.

MnMs - I’m Tired 7″

Tuesday, August 8th, 2006

mnms.jpgIn collaboration with The Beats(The Nerves) Paul Collins the MnMs manage to spit out to girly powerpop pieces with Knock Knock Knock as the clear winner. I’m Tired gets tiresome after a few spins due to the extremly childish girly voice. You know the voice that creeps up on you so much that you just want to punch her in the face. The MnMs only release as far as I know.

Misex - Straight Laddie 7″

Sunday, August 6th, 2006

misex.jpgObscure New Zealand band that jumped on the new bandwagon called “New Wave”. Pretty good punky a-side while the flip sinks to the bottom as soon as the needle runs 4-5 seconds into the song.

…a new name, Mi-Sex. The name originated from a song they were playing at the time by a British group Ultravox, called “My Sex” To create their new image, they discarded the old attire and on went the leather pants and tank tops. Short hair was also called for to complete the look.

Pop Detectives - Twist 7″

Thursday, August 3rd, 2006

popdetectives.jpgI use the title of the b-side cause I can’t understand why they had to put Rocks In The Sea on the a-side. A horrible song. Twist is a geniously crafted powerpop/punk that is hard to get out of your head though. First heard on the infamous Low Down Kids boot series. Seems like all the copies have a pressing defect on Twist. The sound dissapear out into the right channel for a sec or two. Anyway this is awesome stuff with a twist. Ops!
