The most underrated 7inch released by Touch & Go? I bought it cause of the label. And what a freaking nice suprise it was! Here I was expecting some bad ass HC and out of the speakers came some incredible awesome post-punk or whatever you want to call it. I spin this before Necros-IQ32 anytime!

[IMG Laughing Hyenas] Read this morning on the internets that Larissa Strickland (far left), guitarist of the Laughing Hyenas and L-Seven (not the L.A. all-chick band) has died. Such a huge bummer, she was an amazingly awesome and staggeringly good guitarist. Enjoyed seeing the Hyenas multiple times as a teenager, and was lucky to party (not too hardy) with them once, and John Brannon

This is great and sadly underappreciated record, I can’t help but think of the latter Effigies records when I hear this (even though this predates them). Better than those overrated Necros records any day!
Necros-bashing day, eh. L seven is nice, but c’mon – you cannot compare this to Necros.
Sorry E, with the exception of a couple of songs I’ve never cared for the Necros. Comparing L-Seven with the Necros is apples & oranges for sure, but it is a matter of personal taste.
I meant it more in the apples & oranges sense. The Necros never did too much for me neither.

killer 45 — been looking for this one for a long time… larissa went on to form the (mucho underrated) laughing hyenas with john brannon of negative approach.
Thanks for the kind words, haven’t heard those tunes in a while, although “IQ32″ is currently on my mp3 player and Todd’s “1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8….” gets me every time. I feel that I must add that the Necros were and remain gods among men.
sad news to report: larissa “strickland” stolarchuk died earleir this month of a drug overdose… rest in peace, larissa.
I couldn’t understand some parts of this article L Seven – Insanity E.P. 7″, but I guess I just need to check some more resources regarding this, because it sounds interesting.
RIP Larissa. Really great band who played h/c gigs and even opened for U2 in 1981.

I have spent the last 2 days listening/downloading stuff on this diamond of a website, and this band is one of the best yet. How strange there’s two L7′s! The stuff on this site reminds me of what it was like listening to John Peel at 11 at night, some 25 years ago. Rock on! Most of my vynil collection is of quite well known bands compared to this stuff! This is a real treasure trove – thanks a million to whoever put this gold mine together.
