Nasty Facts - Drive My Car E.P. 7″
September 16th, 2006 at 2:21 pmI’m trying out a new format for the postings. Maybe it will be even more fun for everybody as I try to scan most of the material related to the post. The pictures are also bigger!
Most of you’ve probably heard one of the best punk/powerpop 7inches ever released. But hopefully this will be new to some here. I post it cause this is one of those that shouldn’t be missed.
The one and only release from N.Y. Nasty Facts. Ok, not quiet true since they did release a CD EP two years ago. It’s not that bad actually! The winner is Drive My Car which is bordering on how the Descendents later sounded. Words can’t describe how great this little bit of plastic is. There’s a european pressing of this out on 5th Column too.
Country: USA
Year: 1981
Label: Jimboco
Format: 7″
Songs:
Drive My Car.mp3
Get To You.mp3
Crazy About You.mp3

Jimboco released a weird mix of stuff didn’t they? Is it the same label the TMA record is on?

Essential. And those bigger scans are way better and showing the labels is killer!. I used to include label scans too, but it’s such a shitload of work.

One of the best ever records and an excellent post!
The European pressing you refer to was pressed in France and released on the UK (English) based label 5th Column. This label also released the Virus - Stepping Stone 7″ around 1982 I think.
Can anyone here let me know where I can hear the Violators - My Country (b-side for NY Ripper). I used to have this on tape but it broke….

Malfeitor, I’ve recently seen a couple of other Jimboco releases go on eBay but ain’t got a clue what they sound like. Mostly the description in the auctions says:”powerpop”. About TMA I ain’t now nuthing either.

Jim, I used to have the NY Ripper 7inch. Higly overrated in my opinion so I got rid of it. I didn’t even record it for myself.

This is one of the greatest punk records I have ever bought but I often wondered why they never came out with an LP. A slice of unreal energy and poof! gone after just one single. Ah, the nostalgia (for nature to come?).
