I got a copy from Discourage a year ago with a photocopied sleeve for cheap– I’d suggest getting on their e-mail update list since another copy could pop up being that they’re in Ice 9’s hometown of Portland. Discourage sends out e-mail updates maybe once a month with a lot of goodies on it. The Ice 9 EP is such a great record, especially the vocals. But from what I heard, Ice 9 were disliked by Greg Sage of the Wipers because they had a song called “Nazi” (see KBD #14) so they weren’t on the “Portland Punk” live comp LP nor were they “allowed” on Greg’s label Trap which released a lot of great records by other Portland bands. I was e-mailing one of the old Stiphnoyds members back and forth a few years ago and he mentioned that Ice 9 were a pretty short lived band.

Thanks much Tony - I will subscribe to Discourage now. So what was it with that song “Nazi” - was it the title alone that put Greg Sage off (which is rather unlikely, one would suppose)?
The more I listen to this, the less I can believe how greatr this is. To me definately THE newly introduced old band of 2006 so far. Reminds me alot of Modern Warfare and also of Spittin Teeth and other “dramatic” bands. Fucking ACE, Peter!!!

You’ve manage to listen to all the 113 posts for 1979 ;)?

Yeah, I have. I’ve been downloading’em & giving’em at least a few spins. I’ve worked my way up into 1980 so far. Thanks much. Learning a lot about the eras & finding some stuff I really like. I like most of the stuff at least somewhat, although most of the power pop does nothing for me. I’d like to see some other people’s lists of favorites on this site.
