The only thing I have to tell you is that this is one of the best early punk rock 7inches ever released. Desperate, loud, obnoxious, original, outstanding and fucked up. Yeah that pretty much sums it up.

Thanks to Ryan Richardson this one saw the light as he re-issued this super hard to get gem with the intended sleeve along with a lyric sheet and story about the Spys. For all things Spys go here: Rock Bottom And The Spys.

Cramp - She Dosen’t Love Me 7″

It’s punkypowerpop time. What could be better then some killer stuff from Irealand. And behind the engineer nobs we find no other then the druid Clive Culbertson if that’s not a gurantee for quality I don’t know what is.

The singer(who ever his name is) balance on a thin line when it comes to hit the right notes here and there but it works. Suzy Lie Down is saved by a great chorus and nice synthetic drums right out of the 80s but is a bit too long.

The Skinnies - Kill The Beat 7″

skinnies_front.jpgskinnies_back.jpgskinnies_label_a.jpgskinnies_label_b.jpg

This is a re-post from march the 31st 2006. Added more scans and I’m A Dullard.

Reissued by Rave Up a couple of years ago but NOT with the original outstanding sleeve. You should get it cause of the two original tracks.

Accompanied with The Normals 7″ Lectric Eye released two killer records and what else do a record label need in their catalog? The buzzzzing voice in the intro of “Out Of Order”, the sound of what sounds like a broken crash cymbal and the dubbed vocals makes this perfect.

This is a re-post from April the 5th 2006. Added more scans, Domd and Fruset blod.

One of the best punk 7inches released in our hometown Linkoping/Sweden. Their live shows were amazing. And their drummer was one of my big heroes since he could play so fast. Well two years later I heard Gang Green on the “Boston Not L.A.” comp but that’s another story.

Roses Are Red - Can’t Understand 7″

rosesarered_front.jpgrosesarered_back.jpgrosesarered_label_a.jpgrosesarered_label_b.jpg

Thanks to Steve/Low Down Kids I got to hear Can’t Understand for the first time. From there I was hooked.

I didn’t have much hope for the b-side since many times when a band goes out with such a killer a-side the flip often dissapoints. Not so here though! Awesome!

Read Steves, always well written, stuff about Roses Are Read: “Nicky Hallam was especially entertained to be reminded, despite the fact that by looking at him in those Stereo MCs videos you’d swear he was by now plenty used to people having to remind him of stuff, like yesterday, or what country he’s in, or did he have anything to eat this week.

Search alot to find anything about The Executives. They’re on “Killed By Death nr.9″ that’s all I found. Two great tracks out of four. Herky jerky punk with their own style. Love it. On the same label as The Injections.

Could just as well been the first 76% Uncertain 7inch. C.I.A. released an LP but by then they had lost their backbone: Bones-Vocals, Kenny-Rythm Guitar and Bill-Drums(on this recording he was still in Reflex From Pain) who went on to form 76% Uncertain. Yes the LP sucks.

Up here is classic US HC from 1983. Essential lyrics like on the 7 second long Who Cares? topped with great song writing and clever arrangement. Tasty!

KBD Records featured in Village Voice

Tuesday, October 3rd, 2006

village_voice.jpgTwo weeks ago I did an interview for Village Voice. Flashy ehhh. It was published yeasterday. What puzzles me is how the hell Tod from 7inchpunk.com manage to sell a copy of the Urban Waste 7″ for $450. Poor bastard when he’ll find out he could saved a couple of hundred bucks. Nice to see that they got hold Tod Born for some commenting about his old band Monad beeing posted here. Anyway click here to read the article: KBD Records in Village Voice.

The Numbers - Sunset Strip E.P. 7″

Tuesday, October 3rd, 2006

numbers_sunsetstrip_front.jpgnumbers_sunsetstrip_back.jpgnumbers_sunsetstrip_label_a.jpgnumbers_sunsetstrip_label_b.jpg

This is a re-post from June the 20th 2006. Added more scans.

Instead of ripping my own copy I downloaded The Numbers tunes from 7inchpunk.com or what I thought was The Numbers tunes just to hear that there was something missing. Where had the rawnees gone?

I guess the tracks over there where from the remastered The Riptides(who they later changed their name to and re-released this 7inch) cause it didn’t sound as great as this 7inch. So here you get them as they sounded in the first place. Much better in my opinion.

Someone was telling me there’s some sort of sport event going on. Grown up men kicking a ball around. Well I have two balls to kick around.

The Numbers were part of the burgeoning Brisbane punk/new wave scene which also gave rise to The Leftovers, The Apartments, The Go-Betweens, The Survivors, Razar, The Humans and The X-Men. In September 1978, The Numbers issued the rare `Sunset Strip’ EP (500 copies) on The Go-Betweens’ Able label.

Mecano Ltd - Face Cover Face 7″

Monday, October 2nd, 2006

mecanoltd_front.jpgmecanoltd_back.jpgmecanoltd_label_a.jpgmecanoltd_label_b.jpg

Another band I know jack shit about. From Holland and you know it’s hard to go wrong with those eraly dutch punk bands. Face Cover Face can be found on Killed By Death Vol. 14.

Mecano Ltd later stripped their name to just Mecano and have released records until 1996: Mecano Discography.

Anyway this is an excellent two sider with Face Cover Face taking the lead with the hooky bass in the chorus. “Face cover face. Space sucks space. Plastic eats flesh. Spastics need trash.” Yeah!

Country: Holland
Year: 1978
Label: No Fun
