Roger Rackett - S/T 7″

What about Roger Rackett? Yeah what about them? From Ontario, California, USA. A side is sort of a mix between Geza X and Black Randy. Great! B-side is amateurish punk with the just right amount of sloppiness.

Misfits are great but over hyped. Don’t need to tell you much since you can find anything you wanna know about them on the net. This is a quality bootleg made by some Japanese in 1986. Anyone got the original to compare the sound quality?

Following the path of the Texas theme that Erich/Good Bad Music started with the posts of The Dicks and Stains here’s Plastic Idols second oil product. Uncircumcised Twin is almost as good as Siamese Love found on Are We Too Late for the Trend? blogged by Erich. Is Siamese Lust found here a follow up to that one?

This has to be one of the most underrated Texas band ever. Up there with the likes of Big Boys. Hope you all had a terrible Christmas.

The Blitzz - So Free 7″

Thanks to EMI we got to hear this. I can not thank the big major labels enough who gave us REAL punk bands like The Clash, Sex Pistols, Generation X, XTC, Ultravox, 999, The Police, X-Ray Spex etc. Remember that it was the crappy independent labels that gave us amazing stuff like The Exploited, Anti Pasti and the whole shitty UK82 phenomena and crappy mid to late 80s HC.

Note: If you got mediocre musical taste it’s strongly advised that you DON’T download this.

X Ray Spex - Oh Bondage Up Yours 7″

A timeless classic. Here’s a german sleeve variation. Who designed all these great looking german sleeves from bands like this, XTC(Science Friction), Buzzcocks, Ultravox etc?

Incredible how such a powerful and naughty voice could come out of such a little girl.

Some people think that little girls shall be seen and not heard. But I think…Oh bondage up yours! 1 2 3 4!

Bind me tie me
Chain me to the wall I wanna be a slave
To you all

Oh bondage up yours
Oh bondage no more
Oh bondage up yours
Oh bondage no more

Chain-store chain-smoke
I consume you all
Chain-gang chain-mail
I don’t think at all

Oh bondage up yours
Oh bondage no more
Oh bondage up yours
Oh bondage no more

Thrash me crash me
Beat me till I fall
I wanna be a victim
For you all

Oh bondage up yours
Oh bondage no more
Oh bondage up yours
Oh bondage no more

Cult Heroes - Amerikan Story 7″

Amerikan Story has everything I like about a great song: melody, hooks, backward cymbals, gong gong, a small doze of awkwardness and originality. Don’t Like it is good but lacks the over the top writing heard on the a-side.

According to the Bands Of The Past page they’ve made an even better one then Amerikan Story:”From Ann Arbor, Hiawatha Baily was singer and Lee was the transvestite guitarist. Best song was “The Prince and the Showgirl” (a real toe tapper).“. Any transvestites around in todays punk bands? If not it’s a shame.

The heroes seems to be still going strong: http://www.thecultheroes.com.

The home of Erich/Good Bad Cheese sure had their good share of great punk bands. Here’s one of the first punk records out if Switzerland. Composed of members from the “alternative jet set” which I read somewhere. Whatever that means. Two great songs that sounds like punk. What a suprise!

Not as great as their LP that we posted some months ago. Most people said the opposite but I disagree. Still this is a great record no doubt about it.

I just got home from a very wet birthday party last night. So I’m not in a great mood for writing. Download and pogo your day away. Produced by Greg Sage from The Wipers.

Braineaters - S/T E.P. 7″

braineaters_label_a.jpgbraineaters_label_b.jpg

Amazing punk rock out of Canada. Badly mastered. Low volume all around. Sloppy and hectic instrumentation. Short songs. What more can you ask for? Oh, yeah a sleeve! Got one?

The master mind of Vancouver’s Jim Cummins who originally released material as the Braineaters — a punk incarnation — beginning with 1979’s ‘Braineaters’ EP which featured guest appearances by Buck Cherry (Modernettes) and “Art Bormann” (aka Art Bergmann) of K-Tels/Young Canadians fame.

Yet another Victims. Here’s the US ones. Only release on Plan 9 that’s not a Misfits one. The a-side is not that interesting in case you’re not too keen on the Heartbreakers, NY Dolls kind of sleazy punk n roll. The b-side on the other hand is a total different story. Behind The Times is what makes this record a must have. And Nervous comes in second.

Two different sleeve variations. And I happen to have the black version up for sale at eBay: Victims at eBay.
