This is a repost from August the 22nd 2006. Added more scans, re-recorded and uploaded all the tracks. This time the tracks are from the original release and not the reissue. Sounds a bit beefier.

Ok, Strange Reaction posted this some time ago but since the files are 128kbps encoded the hihat and cymbals are just too nasty to my ears. And this 7inch is just to damned great to not be posted with a high quality rip.

Amazing in your face obnoxious LA punk that blows away their first 7inch by miles in case you’ve heard that one and got dissapointed(Note from Tony: This is their first.). Raw yet melodic. By the way did they bring The Drones-Further Temptations with them into the studio to have that as a reference during production? The beginning of This Generation… often misleads me into that I’m going to hear The Drones.

One funny thing is that “…vacation” actually sounds like me singing backing vocals. A little bit nasal and childish.

Aargh - how many times have I seen this 7″ in shops. Beats me why I never bought it, it’s so great! Thanks Peter!!!!!

  2. Troy Says:

This is actually their first single and it’s great.

The second single “We Were That Noise” is ok.

  3. Anonymous Says:

    Fuckin’ hell!!
Never heard these drones before but it was absolutely brilliant!!

  4. Scott Says:

Such a great record, I’m surprised it hasn’t been on more comps.

  5. The Shoe Says:

  9. Degenerateen Says:

    Classic.

  10. Degenerateen Says:

    I got a 1978 Shock pin on eBay yesterday along w/ 3 others I don’t care about for $5.50. I’m so excited.

  11. E. Says:

I would never pay more for a pin than 1$.

  12. Tony Says:

I treasure the original copy I have of this EP, one of my favorites for sure. Their 2nd EP is lame compared to this one, it’s way more poppy and has no great guitar noise or the urgency that this EP has. A Japanese label whose name I forgot did a Shock reissue CD about 5 years ago that was pretty good, with some unreleased live and studio stuff. It has lots of band pictures and whatnot too. But none of the unreleased stuff compared to this superb EP unfortunately. I know that there was a boot of this EP a few years back but didn’t know that the sound quality was so different on it.

  13. The Flakes // Drummer Says:

It sounds a bit more crammed togheter. And the difference is obvious as you compare them side by side.

  14. timmythepunk Says:

like spoiled and how the attack gets nastier 50 secs in

  15. sgm Says:

fuck cheap blogs who post 128 or less files.

Newest smash hit single from Fear of Gout (sung to the tune of “Shake your Booty” booty+cookie = cooky) to order a limited edition color vinyl pressing please send 3 ounces of soil from the yard of the house previously owned by the guy who molested Maya Angelou in “I know Why the Caged Bird Sings” to:

  17. .:>M Says:

An extreme fear of gout may cause the sufferer to attempt to ward off their perceived doom via use of folk remedies and obscure rites; chicken touching in particular. The common sufferer of pathological fear of gout can usually be identified by their stench, due to them sleeping in barns and (again) touching chickens

  18. tesla Says:

yeah stinky we know it’s you!

  19. M Says:

Actually, I’m known for smelling sensual.

  20. M Says:

    Vote for my new haircut

  21. m Says:

The new haircut SHOULD SCREAM “Sensual”

    to go

    With the smell.

  22. dylan Says:

its a winner! the bootleg looks JUST like the original… so watchout…

  23. The Flakes // Drummer Says:

Almost Dylan! If you see it pictured it’s hard to tell. The labels are a bit different. If you hold it in your hand you’ll notice the original vinyl is a lot thicker and more redish.

  24. dylan Says:

hmmm. my original melted. luckily it was just the b-side, when the bootleg was around i got one and gave the melted one away, but i believe you!

  25. Besound Says:

Found this 7″ at a garage sale for 50 cents! Sold it on eBay for $250.00!!! Great song, greater find! ;)

  26. Karl Bakla Says:

this sounds so good, I fell in love with this when I first heard it on the KBD lp!

  27. Ted Oliphant Says:

So many thanks to KBD for re- releasing our record. Thanks to all of you who have found this record and posted these awesome comments, I read every one! SHOCK may be doing a reunion show with Rags to Riches in Rome Italy. Watch our website or our myspace (myspace.com/shockkbd) Also, if interested; you could check out my latest songs at myspace.com/SteveReina

  29. The Flakes // Drummer Says:

Hi Steve and thanks for dropping by. This is just a blog not a record label :). Think there’s some guys in the US who did the boot.

  30. Paul L'Esperance Says:

This was a time period that everything was really hot. We met Danny Holloway the producer, when we played The Masque Benifit at Elks Lodge. I will always love this ep, and glad it was recorded. Hope to see the stage again, we’ll see, but really happy with what is happening with the scene now, and great new bands. Alot to listen to and see now! Thanks! Paul, Shock

  31. Jay Thurston Says:

Shock needs to go on tour…they were great.

  32. Paul L'Esperance Says:

Thanks Jay! It would be a great time, right now I’m amazed the Sex Pistols are playing and wondering if I could somehow get in. I think we are seriously thinking of playing again. Thanks again!

  33. Jay Thurston Says:

You definitely should…why wait?? Get with Steve and start playing again. One gig, in Rome??? That is not fair. Do hope it will happen. Take care.

  34. Jay Thurston Says:

Oh yeah…Shock is playing the Masque reunion show with the Eyes, Controllers, Deadbeats, the Dogs, etc, etc, etc…and guess what??? I am going to miss it. FUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKK!

  35. Paul L'Esperance Says:

Hey Jay, where are you located?

  36. Jay Thurston Says:

Northern California, by Redding. I hope you guys have fun.

  37. Erich Says:

Punk re-enactment. Who will play McLaren? Who is Sid?

  38. Jay Thurston Says:

Erich…do you need a hug??? Erich, you can play Nancy…

  39. Paul L'Esperance Says:

Masque reunion was unreal. Amazing night. Something none of us will ever forget!

  40. Jay Thurston Says:

I sure wish I could have attended, Paul. My friends went to it. I have yet to speak with them. I pray someone filmed it. I bet it felt like you were 30 years younger???? Now, you guys can go on a tour and see the country.

  41. Paul L'Esperance Says:

Hey, did your friends go to the show? The entire night was unreal!! Can’t discribe the bands there. Still cann’t believe it happened and was a total blast!

  42. Jay Thurston Says:

I heard that there were a lot of youngsters there asking you guys for your autograph…that is hilarious. You are truly rock gods now…hahaha. I am glad it was incredible. Flyboys even played..pretty darn cool. I do hope you all go on tour now.

  43. Paul L'Esperance Says:

The Masque show was a great night! Seeing and hearing all of the bands again, there really are no words to describe that night. I hope it all happens again, and the Masque show should go on the road, and play somewhere else. Still can’t believe it was real.

  44. Mr. Meal Says:

My Uncle Willy’s record label, Wankin’ Stiphs, released a C.D. with Shock and The Silencers. That was my first exposure to them, and it changed my life.
