Somebody Help Me is the same version as on the Charred Remains compilation tape posted some months ago. But of course it sounds way better on vinyl. I think this is the best Toxic Reasons 7inch coupled with God Bless America. LP wise they never out did the master piece Kill By Remote Control posted by Eric.

Their debut Independence is good but dosen’t hold up in the long run. Both the tracks on here can also be heard on Independence and togheter with Mercenary and Drunk And Disorderly it’s the best bunch. Talking about Drunk And Disorderly I’m pretty hung over today so I better stop.

Fast, fun and hip. Reminds me a bit of Stark Raving Mad. Great roaring guitar sound coupled with out of control drumming. Released in 1984 it was maybe a bit too late for the trend but I still find this to be a fantastic piece of the HC history.

William DuVall, guitarist, is in some grunge/metal band these days. He also took the job as a stand in vocalist for Alice In Chains on their tour last year. What can I say? Shit happens.

First release from the infamous Good Vibrations records out of Ireland. Big Time is the obvious hit but I must say it gets annoying after some spins. Not so with No.1. No. 1 got more bite and snottyness to it. How come most irish bands had such a talent for writing hooky and melodic punk? We got Stiff Little Fingers, Clive Culbertson, Undertones, The Starjets, insert any other band here and Rudi. Their later stuff ain’t that interesting to me except Overcome By Fumes from the Battle Of The Bands comp. 7inch.

Here’s a short story about the band from the Wikipedia site:

Detention - Dead Rock ‘N Rollers 7″

Inspired by Erichs post of the German band Napalm(who later morphed into Napalm Death) as a tribute to the fat king Elvis death 30 years ago my contribution to the master of peanut butter and hamburger is Dead Rock N Rollers by Detention. Since Erich posted this some time ago you can also find it here: You ain’t nothing but a hound dog. A kind person named Mikhail wrote down the lyrics in the comment section, all in capital letters:

JIMI HENDRIX AND JANIS JOPLIN AND KEITH MOON AND ELVIS PRESLEY ARE DEAD. PULLED THE PLUG ON THEMSELVES. DEAD ROCK N ROLLERS THEY WERE OUTTA-CONTROLLERS, PLAYED THE DRUG GAME BUT THEY COULDNT MAINTAIN AND NOW THEYRE DEAD. OFFED THEMSELVES FOR THE BIG BUZZ. JIMMY MORRISON AND SID VICIOUS AND JOHN BELUSHI AND JOHN BONHAM WERE WEAK. COULDNT TAKE IT AT THE PEAK. DEAD ROCK N ROLLERS THEY WERE OUTTA-CONTROLLERS, I GUESS THEY FELT LAME SO THEY SNUFFED THEIR BRAINS AND NOW THEY’RE DEAD. WHY COULDNT IT BE BARRY MANILOW? I MEAN I WAS NEVER CRAZY ABOUT JOHN LENNON, BUT AT LEAST HE DIDNT DROWN TO DEATH IN HIS OWN PUKE. AND WHAT ABOUT YOU, JIM CARROLL? ALL YOUR FRIENDS HAVE. WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? DO IT!! DEAD ROCK N ROLLERS THEY WERE OUTTA-CONTROLLERS, PLAYED THE FINAL SOLUTION, MASSIVE MIND POLLUTION AND THEYRE DEAD.

From what I recall I was glad when Elvis died. After all he wasn’t a punk rocker.

Teenage Popeye - Modern Problems E.P. 7″

Two absolutely awesome tracks: Life Is Cheap which kills and Expectations who destroys. Why did Teenage Popeye have to ruin it with the two other completely shit tracks: Peter Principal = worthless cock rock without the big dick just a moist little penis and She’s Only 16 = crap poop without the hooks. Schizo band indeed. Sad they didn’t stick to what they where good at namely cranking out awesome punk rock.

The sleeve is actually florescent green but my scanner can’t handle it so black and white is what you get.

Pierce McDowell who plays bass now has a project togheter with the former Gong(they did some good stuff back in the 70s) man Gilli Smyth.

Help John Stabb

Monday, August 13th, 2007

John Stabb from Government Issue was attacked by some maniacs. You can help him out to pay his medical bills:

“On Tuesday, 7/17/07, our dear friend John Stabb was physically assaulted, just a block away from his home, by a group of 5 teenage thugs. John will be undergoing extensive facial surgery and an undetermined hospital stay (hopefully short, fingers crossed here).”

If it’s not from the States or Sweden you can be sure it’s from Australia. Thought Criminals did just as most other punk bands in the 70’s: carved out a sound totally of their own.

Inspired by the Desperate Bicycles they went on to form their own label Doublethink that put out a fair amount of great records. The Hilton Bomber 7inch is probably their most famous record and the one that is hardest to get hold of but this second plastic is just as great. Most of you might know that they’re together again and offer their latest anthology CD/LP for free: I won’t pay for punk records.

As with many other Australian punk bands I’m amazed at the speed many of them manage to achieve as early as 1978 or for that matter in 1977 if you take a listen to Flipped Out Over You by The Victims. Download Fuck Their Neighbors from the link above and you’ll hear what I mean. Or for that matter Display/Response: Action below.

A classic swedish powerpop/punk 7inch from the band that later became Perfekt Alibi(thanks Senap!). I’m Down got that boggie feel to it that is just on the right side of the border of not being totally crap. You got some porridge? You haven’t? Ahh the singer Hakan just ate it all! Listen to his marvelous love it or hate it voice.

Not as catchy and intense as their first killer that will be posted later on. In the meantime you can check out Erik of Something I Learned Todays post of it: Ultimate Orgasm. Still this has its moments. While I Used To Know You is poppy and soft Quick To Compliment got some more distorted guitars. I like both of them and they got that special NCM sound: weird stuff that roles in and out here and there and the knack for hooky melodies.

CDRs on eBay

Saturday, August 4th, 2007

I have no problem with sellers selling CDRs as long as they let the buyers know what they’re bidding on.

When sellers don’t it just pisses me off and god knows what they’re telling the buyers when they’ve received their CDRs and they get back with a complaint. I guess many of them are just old fuckers who’s not aware of the countless sites who offers the old stuff for free.

For example we have Joes posting of the brilliant Electrify Me by The Plugz that a seller named EFFIGY77 have been selling numerous CDR copies of. If you look at his feedback it looks swell. But as I said I could only guess what he’s telling those getting back to complain. One if his usual answers seems to be “this was never official released and is very rare”. I asked him about the Special Forces - World Domination that I posted here a long time ago and have been on sale on and off on eBay: I don’t want any problem so I’m taking it off. I’ve also asked about some other CDs if they’re CDRs and the answer I’ve gotten is: It’s a fan club release. Yeah right honey.

There are more CDR sellers on eBay. Let’s fill up the list in the comment section.
