From Andrew/Smooch

hey,
thanks for the link. just for your info, the intentions for mastering this thing were to use the original tapes from each recording. the problem is that half of them are in storage in a small town in france and are not about to be dug up anytime soon. the other half no longer exist. the rok tots were the only band that still have the original tapes, with the one other exception of bum kon, whose producer kept the tapes. the upcoming bum kon album was remixed from the original tapes and sounds great. it blows away the single on the comp. but for the sake of consistency, only the singles themselves were used on the comp. so some vary in sound. yeah, the white trash sounds bad but on the other hand, the defex transfer does sound good. just depends on the piece of wax itself....sometimes.
and regarding the lack of info, i would have liked to include more info on the singles themselves but the problem there was that neither the owner of wax trax nor any of the bands could remember the important details=2 0i was looking for! some of them were very simple details, too. that's bum kon on the cover of the comp. it was supposed to be noted in the liner notes but was left out by error.
im only writing this info to you because you seem like you might care. i think you will be pleased with the bum kon LP which i'll mail to you next week when i get 'em back.
thanks

In the end it's just a matter of taste but if you compare My Toes by White Trash here and the vinyl rip posted some months ago I think the difference is too big and in disadvantage to the remastered tracks.

cover is bob from bum kon

duane davis is the owner of wax trax that contributed to the liner notes.

strange that you think the remastering is bad since it was done lovingly by bob ferbrache who does such a great job with so many other releases. though, i myself haven't had time to sit down with the whole cd with no other distractions yet.

it will be out on lp eventually.

i swear i had nothing to do with this release! haha

Emo is already ancient history. Now the new thing are "Scene" kids (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Scene+Kid) They don't mention on this page that the girls wear little tiaras in their hair.
