To celebrate the arrival of Martin to this site I have to post his marvelous two man project. Think Missbrukarna but slightly rawer. I had heard some stuff on their Myspace page before and liked it a lot but it’s even better on vinyl. One of the best swedish punk/hc records in a very very long time I think. I like all of the songs but Lognhalsmottagningen is absolutely best when they calm down a bit like on Kola o stalar and Va e poangen. Martins voice is great(desperate and obnoxious) and I wouldn’t mind have him in a band of my own. On top of the cream the lyrics, for the swedes only, has heights like: Respektera stastsministern, han är ju självlärd. Inte drömma dig bort till de rikas flärd. Genius rhyme.

I really WANT to recommend this compilation. It’s greatly designed with a cool looking photo on the front of…yeah who? It’s small details like this that is missing here. A detailed story about every band and the recording is also missing. Too bad. Some interesting and fun stories by Duane Travis of Wax Trax and others is in the 6 page booklet.

My biggest concern about this release is the quality of the mastering job though. I’m sorry to say that it’s horrible done compared to the originals(those records I own and can compare with like Frantix, Defex, Bum Kon and White Trash). Listen to I Hate Toes here to the one ripped from the vinyl a couple of weeks ago. The difference is just too big. It’s noisy, thin and too much treble. Sounds like it’s a 128 mp3 rip. Sad sad sad cause I really want to recommend this comp to everyone since it got the whole EPs from Frantix, Bum Kon, White Trash, Your Funeral, Young Weasels, Gluons with Allen Ginsberg, Jeri Rossi, Rok Tots, Defex and Nails.

First The Nuns and now the Weirdos. What’s next? Exploited, Clash and Sex Pistols? Probably. Some records that are quiet known still deserves some more exposure. And come on it’s on one of the best punk labels ever. The packaging of all their releases is just amazing. And the Dangerhouse logo looks sooo good. Weirdos, some art students that dressed cool and made some great tunes. You know them and I can stop writing here which is a relief.

Beats me why I haven’t posted the Nuns debut until now. The site is called Killed By Death Records and this is included on the first vol of the KBD series. The Nuns released a couple of good 7inches but to me the highlight is their LP. It was literally every where in the beginning of the 80s. Every decent cut out bin had a Nuns LP for a dollar or two. The 2 song a-side is stellar but the b-side makes me want to carve my arms and jump of a roof. Nuns is familiar to most of you and there’s loads of info to be found. I leave it up to you to google it you lazy jews.
