Tant Brun - Nej4/Sa mycke’ skit… 7″
May 2nd, 2008 at 1:56 am

Tant Brun came from Jonkoping, aka Sweden’s Jerusalem. The city is mainly known for it’s billion churches, a very good ice hockey team, Dag Hammarskjold, The Cardigans and d-beat punk, but it should be known for Tant Brun.
As a kid growing up in the twin city Huskvarna I never heard of them, which feels pretty weird as I remember seeing posters and jackets tagged with every other local band but them. It might have to do with the fact that they had a manager and were considered a bit too good looking, but who knows… At least the guy in shorts and sandals manage to look very hot. Among the numerous bands from the area Tant Brun were the only ones who managed to release records during the first wave of punk, and they are most likely the only band ever to use the phrase “varandra ar ett reciprokt pronomen”. Even if they didn’t like school they managed to pick up some swedish grammar for sure.
Apart from the rocking tunes on this 7″ they released another 7″ in 1981 before they decided to call it a day. That one is more in the power pop vein, but still good enough to be posted here if Peter allows me to do it…
Country: Sweden
Year: 1980

Maybe I’ll allow you to post the second 7″ if it’s good powerpop. Ahhh the feeling of power. At home my gf treats me like dirt but here I can play the dictator.

Hahaha and I told you better live with me, Pjotr, as I’m the only one who knows how to etc.

it would be really a good move someone puts the OSS 4-song 7″ep (GBG area?) of 1980 on this site.

Thanks for this excellent post. Is their second release as great as this one?

Great stuff. I can hear some of the ol’ pop in this one. Love to hear the other 7″.
Ah - “clap clap — clap”.
Thanks again!

Behjan, are you sure? If so that’s quiet shocking ha ha. Post it in the Frank Details post.

Great post and all, thanks. One note from the technical supervisor: Can you hear the humming during the first silent second? That’s most likely coming from cheap cables.
May 3rd, 2008 at 3:14 pm
Erich, are you sure it´s cheap cables. Can it not be Ground hum? Just curious…
The best thig with Tant Brun is the snotty “a visst å så!” roughly translated for you non swedish speakers as “yes sure and so”. Doesn´t make sense does it? No, I didn´t think so, language is a tricky thing….Whatever!!!
Fuckkkkkkk!!!!!!!!!!!!
May 3rd, 2008 at 4:03 pm
Yeah, you heard him Erich…”Fuckkkkkk!!!!!!!!”
May 4th, 2008 at 5:58 am
I’m pretty sure it’s not cheap cables, I’m more into that it has something to do with the grounding, but I’m still trying to figure out what’s causing it. Hopefully it’ll be better with each post.
And Behjan, I’ve got the OSS ep and will re-post the whole ep later on (I think it was TV EYE who posted 2 of the songs from it a long time ago).

I think God is causing it! All this satan music and evil sinning that is going on…I do believe it is God himself. If you play the humming backwards it says…”this is God and I will kill all you sinners”….

Martin, I’d try and get quality rca cables. I’m pretty sure it’s the cables causing this sound.

It’s God…
May 4th, 2008 at 3:32 pm
…it’s me!
May 4th, 2008 at 5:25 pm
I told you it was God! Never trust a hippie!
May 4th, 2008 at 11:37 pm
I’ll do whatever GOD tells me to do so until she shows me Bush on fire I won’t do a thing…
The second is what you’d expect from a band that had another year of practicing and followed the music trend, so sort of the same thing again, but more pop, less snotty and new shorts and sandals. I really like it thou and will post it as long as I don’t have to suffer from my master’s whip if I do so.
May 4th, 2008 at 11:47 pm
And with “the second” in my comment above I meant Tant Brun’s second 7″ of course. Just so that no one thinks that I belive there’s more than one GOD!
May 5th, 2008 at 2:13 pm
I was expecting God to show up here sooner or later. I heard her voice once. It was May 2nd 2008. She whispered: “Tant Brun - Nej4/Sa mycke’ skit… 7″. It changed my life.

Definately that late 70’s early 80’s sound and has it’s place in history, but I’m still trying to get into it. You’re all delusional to think there’s a God. You need to get back on your thorazine or lithium. You always hear a hum when you don’t take your meds. I didn’t get that this wasn’t a Peter post the first time I read the text. I have forgotten to take my meds as well. Thank you Martin for your posts, I hope this means we will be getting double the output from this site. Thanx guys.

justin. I see we haven’t met yet. I am God. My son says he will penetrate you from the rear if you do not believe in me. Start praying….
May 6th, 2008 at 5:01 pm
I am too greasy wide and old for your son God, he better stick to the altar boys.
May 6th, 2008 at 7:07 pm
He said the exact same thing, justin. See you soon.

I feel as if I am in “the emperors new clothes” situation here, but this isn’t a great record.
“I remember seeing posters and jackets tagged with every other local band but them”
Hmmmmmmm……. I wonder why, let me think about that for a while. Who dressed them? The Village People? I don’t want to be cruel or negative, but it was obviously 3 school kids playing at punk rockers, they probably blackmailed their parents for the money to finance the single.*
*Footnote: The English teenager method of financing a New Wave single, was to break open public telephone boxes - it is a known fact that 57.3% of all English independent punk singles from 1977-1982 were financed with large bag fulls of ten-pence pieces.

I like the fact that Bert Karlsson distributed this…
