Here’s post number 600. More then 2 years has gone by since this shitty blog started. Unbelievable bad and expensive punk has been posted. Generic hardcore has been praised. Powerpop has been downloaded in thousands by hordes of japanese melody fans without leaving a comment. And I’m sorry to say that there’s still loads of crap left to post. 

When we(the TV Eye // Drummer who left after a year) started this site the two main inspirations was 7inchpunk.com for it’s music and Last Days of Man for it’s layout. 7inchpunk.com guys turned out to be run by a boring brat so the inspiration that the site had provided faded pretty quick. While Joe Stumbles Last Days has continued to be a big inspiration with it’s excellent writing. On the road it seems like 100s of new punk/hc blogs has been pooping up every month. While there are too many of them to mention them all here’s some that I’ve continued to enjoy: Good Bad Music, obviously for the funny and witty writing, great music and for being one of the most frequent commentators here. Erich and I has during the years done some split posts and more will come. Worthless Trash for it’s excellent taste in music and great writing. James needs more hits! 45Revolutions for being a complement to yeah that’s right 45 Revolutions the book. And the list can go on for some time so sorry that I’ve forgotten YOU.

About Last Day… seen some recent trackbacks from Joe and when he recently posted the debut LP of the fantastic and HIGLY underrated Th’ Inbred I had to post their debut 7″ as a complement. Have to agree on Joes reflection “I think this LP represents the closing chapter on the first wave of US Hardcore. It collapses into a pile of self-loathing and disgust.”. On Scene Deat Th’ Inbred already made it clear they soon where about to leave the “HC scene”: “We shout and spit the lyrics out. We know what punk’s all about. We play fast and loud ’cause we wanna be the in-crowd.”. When you listen to this I think you can hear that hardcore used to be non-generic and with a knack for great ideas.

Following Erichs example of dedicating a post to some of the most frequent commentators. Here’s an obscure gem for Tony of Punk Business Manager and Jay Thurston. Our punk business manager might be able to shade some light over this band since they’re from Chicago? Life On A Asteroid is nearly as good as it gets: clever arrangement, cool synths, snotty vocals and plain and simple awesomeness. Instant Knowledge might not be for everybody. How shall I describe it? Fuck it just download and listen.

I have a feeling that I will write this quite a few times when I’m posting here, BUT this is one of my absolute favorite records ever! The songs are all “killers” (a word I’ve learned from the older clientèle here and on various punk blogs, which means that they are very good and not that they end lives), and it’s impossible for me to pick a favorite track amongst them. The intro to China drags on for 35 seconds before the song kicks in, but when it does you’re in for a fight, 1,2, left, right! The hi-hat and kick drum break after 1,33 is nothing but amazing and the same goes for the guitar break and boogie stick 39 seconds in Chartertont.

The excellent site Punktjafs put up an interview with the boys from Stress zine where the interviewer complains about the lyrics to Du snackar, but I think the lyrics are nothing but brilliant and describes the way I feel about most people every single day. And yes, that includes me as well.

The band came from Ockelbo and took the name from their drummer to stand out from the crowd of bands with hard and chocking names (just like Sarah Coffmann, remember?). Lars left the band pretty quick thou (but keep his name in memory as he joined another great band that will be posted soon), and the same goes for quite a few of the other original members as well. Despite the constant line-up change the band managed to visit the studio no less than four times during their existence, but this is their only release. More studio tracks, a few live songs + the members previous band Garage can be heard here, so make sure to download them as well.

It might be worth mention that this master piece was recorded in 1979, but not released until almost a year later due to massive technical problems. If any of the band members or anyone with more info wants to add some info about this that is more than welcome, as usual.

Nazi Scool have been posted at 7inchpunk.com before. And do I have to ramble on about the bit rates? No, I thought so. Another thing is that the b-side isn’t posted over there. Included on Killed By Death Vol 5 and Back To Fron Vol 1.

It’s a great joy to cranck this up while sitting on the balcony with my shaved head and the loud “Sieg Hiel” chants comes blistering through the speakers on Nazi School. 

On the flip there’s a cover of Judy In Disguise wich I happen to like even though I’ve always have a hard time coping with “rock n roll” chords. From Long Island, NY.

Read the review from MRR, 1982 over at Kill From The Heart:”This New York outfit pounds out a stirring anthem directed against the stupidity and regimentation of our educational system (along with a mouldy JOHN FRED cover song).”

A solid two tracker. I had heard some buzz that “Test Tube Baby” should be great before I got it. But after awhile it turns out I’ve listened more to the b-side “Calling All Cardinals”. An ultra thin XTCish arty-punk song that just blows you away.

Yes, you’re more then welcome to fill me in on more info about the Chronics. I know that Dave De Luca formed The Clock togheter with ex-Pagans guy Tommy Metoff. That’s all.

You may have heard the incredible track One For All on the American Youth Report. I was totally floored when I spun it for the first time. But their records where nowhere to be found in Sweden at the time. I heard them on Hell Comes To Your House and the Life Is Boring So Why Not Steal This Record compilations. Here’s their second and last record. It’s almost as good as One For All. Hardcore delivered with originality and passion. While No Passion makes Erich do ugly things Suburban Death Row want’s me to fuck you all. And of course they got great lyrics to boot: I see them leading decent, well ordered lives. With their lovely, stupid children and their K-Mart wives. If the rumors is true that they have an LP full of unreleased stuff I hope it’s from the same session as One For All. 

So what happened with MW after this EP? I really need to know. 

You know Erich posted this one and their first too which I command you to download as well. Yeah, I know I sold my copy of the first EP just cause I was so disappointed it wasn’t as good as One For All.

Lovely punk rock from hockeyplaying(?) Canadians. The only thing I don’t like about this 7″ is the oversized sleeve that makes it hard to fit into a plastic sleeve for protection.

Canada had its good share of outstading punk bands like Bureaucrats beeing one of them The Modern Minds another. Most people associate early punk from Canada with D.O.A and don’t tend to know anymore bands. A shame really.

Here’s one of those fine forgotten bands that did the classic one-song-in-Swedish-and-one-song-in-English-on-the-same-7″ that was quite popular in Sweden during the early punk years. Obviously Container didn’t think two languages was enough when they cut their debut, so they choose two genres as well. Where Livet stinker is great poppy punk with a very catchy aaaaaaaah choir chorus Together with you is more mod pop with a rather odd drum rhythm pattern in the chorus.

This was the third and last release on Jaktskivan, so I guess the band had some kind of connection to Docent Dod, but how? Anyone who knows anything about this band at all? All I’ve managed to figure out is that Lillemor Engholm who produced it had a finger in some more punk records, but I can’t really remember the other ones now. However I did find out that Morgan from Jonstrom (and Morgan) didn’t just record the firsts two Rude Kids 7inches, but also the first Docent Dod.

Haven’t posted many fullength LPs or 12″ EPs in a long long time due to the vast amount of time it takes to rip the bastards. I can’t scan the sleeves either so I have to use my shitty mobile camera. Which don’t turn out that good every time. But when listening to the debut from Minneapolis Willfull Neglect I knew I HAD to post it. It’s such an underrated or just forgotten masterpiece it’s silly. Yepp, our dear Erich of Good Bad Music has posted this in November 2006. The rips are still there so you can download his too but the scans are missing.

1 1/2 year has gone by since Erichs post so WN needs some attention once again. It’s incredible to imagen this was released in 1982! It got all the quality and classicness of the big boom of HC in 1983. And only in the beginning of the 80s you could hear HC bands crank out classic fast tunes like Eat My Shit And Die and the next moment turn to pop in the awesome 5 Nice Guys. And when you thought the great moments where over they leave you speechless with a song like Criminals. Jaw dropping stuff from start to finish.

For those of you who just can’t get enough of LOUD FAST AND HARD music I give you Mops, one of Sweden’s finest in mop top pop. Mops came from Sollentuna just as their friends in Docent Dod, but they had more in common as they were on the same label and let Docent Dod’s Zebo Hillborg produce this 7″. And damn it, I almost forgot to mention that they managed to sound very, very much like their pals as well. It’s actually hard to tell that they were not the same band, but I don’t care as it just means twice as much mod pop fun.

This is their first 7″ out of 3, and if you like this one you’ll like the other ones as well. The third is more mod rock n’ roll, but still very good despite some pretty lame lyrics. As I guess some of you will find this awful and too tame I’ll put up the other two singles later on. Hahahahahah!
