Willful Neglect – S/T E.P. 12″

Haven’t posted many fullength LPs or 12″ EPs in a long long time due to the vast amount of time it takes to rip the bastards. I can’t scan the sleeves either so I have to use my shitty mobile camera. Which don’t turn out that good every time. But when listening to the debut from Minneapolis Willfull Neglect I knew I HAD to post it. It’s such an underrated or just forgotten masterpiece it’s silly. Yepp, our dear Erich of Good Bad Music has posted this in November 2006. The rips are still there so you can download his too but the scans are missing.

1 1/2 year has gone by since Erichs post so WN needs some attention once again. It’s incredible to imagen this was released in 1982! It got all the quality and classicness of the big boom of HC in 1983. And only in the beginning of the 80s you could hear HC bands crank out classic fast tunes like Eat My Shit And Die and the next moment turn to pop in the awesome 5 Nice Guys. And when you thought the great moments where over they leave you speechless with a song like Criminals. Jaw dropping stuff from start to finish.

Luvely :-) Some records just can’t get enough exposure. This is sure as hell one of them. I think I’ll have to repost it, haha.

  2. The Flakes // Drummer says:

I thought you should work and not do the blog ;). Ha ha yeah repost it!!

  3. Erich says:

Haha, yeah I should work, but you know …. I was kidding, I will not repost it. Maybe the 2nd? I will see. And now back to work.

  4. Jay Thurston says:

The one thing I did not like about this record, was the sticker on it that said “HARDCORE”. Great record. The second is great as well.

  5. Erich says:

And I thought that sticker was the best about it :-(

  6. chano says:

GREAT STUFF !!! And highly underrated too .

  7. Jerk Ass says:

    Gash Abuse…….AHHHHHHHH…….that takes me back…..

  8. Perkeo says:

A quick Wilful Neglect story: I used to hate these guys because they came up to visit a friend of theirs who was going to college somewhere north of St. Paul, let’s just say, anyway they got real drunk and their pal, who I previously thought was OK, started calling me and some of my friends “a bunch of San Francisco faggots”. Typical Jekyll and Hyde drunk crap, anyway later when they were opening for Minor Threat in Mpls. I tried to give their singer Wade a godd hard knee to where ever(in “the pit” of course), ended up being his head connecting to my thigh (pretty gay huh?) which left me with a bad hematoma that took many months to heal! So much for vengeance…OK records butI still think they’re pretty generic.

  9. The Flakes // Drummer says:

Ha ha thanks for the story Perkeo. Generic? If it’s one word that don’t come to mind when listening to WN it’s generic. Totally a sound of their own.

  10. EBOB says:

Eat My Shit And Die is one of the few songs that deserves to be a part of the DEFINITION of rock and roll.

  11. Mykeage says:

hey, sorry to seem petty or something but you mistagged the band as “Willfull Neglect” when they are actually called “Willful” with only one L at the end. the song “Willful Neglectors” is mistagged as well, with the extra L.

  12. The Flakes // Drummer says:

    Thanks! Corrected that.

  13. Erich says:

That was very willfull of you, Peter.

    Sorry, couldn’t resist.

  14. Jay Thurston says:

Nothing worse than punk rock English teachers…hahaha

  15. Wade Calhoon says:

Wow; its hard to beleive that people still like this stuff. I guess thats the beauty of records; there timeless. Anyways its nice to see. We also did some music under the title “Mother, Frank & Cherry” which I still like on occassion. Some is released, some is not. I do beleive I did sing on Bleedin eyes, but its hard to remeber.
    Take care you all!!!

  16. Jay Thurston says:

I hope I don’t grow up and start disliking this type of music…that would suck.

  17. The Flakes // Drummer says:

Hi Wade! Where can I find some stuff by “Mother, Frank & Cherry”? The only band I’ve heard post WF is The Tranques.

  18. Wade Calhoon says:

Go to “My space” and look for Gojohnnygo. His name is John Kass. There is also more Willfil Neglect music available from him.
