Disorder - S/T 7″

Wednesday, June 11th, 2008

This is a repost from March the 31th 2006. Added more scans, new rips and Law And Disorder.

Not the glue sniffing Disorder. The B-side is completly worthless which is strange considering “Air Raid” is a complete blast. (Edit. I’ve been completely blinded by Air Raid to give Law And Disorder a real chance. Actually it’s quiet good! Sing a long to “Destroy, destroy, destroy society. Destroy, destroy, destroy everything.) Compact, short and in your face. It’s been included on “Cheap And Nasty Vol. 1″ but something must’ve gone wrong in the mastering cause all the bass and punch disapeared. Too bad. It’s the same with The Jermz track there. To find the original press WITH a sleeve is very hard.

Distortion - S/T 7″

Tuesday, June 10th, 2008

Here’s some distorted tunes from the north played by a trio of young boys from the shit hole Jarpen, situated a few miles away from the popular ski resort Are. Apparently the three of them managed to play some punk rock between the skiing trips, but they had to go to Norway to get it on vinyl. After this EP they called it a day and spend the rest of their days in the ski slope instead of the rehearsal room.

The first two songs are great punk with driving drums and guitar while the other two have a touch of hard rock that makes them an itsy bitsy bit boring in my opinion. Maybe they were just showing their skills after being around in different forms since 1975, but who knows.

X-X(X blank X) - S/T 7″

Tuesday, June 10th, 2008

By looking at the art of the back sleeve you’ll get a hint that this band might had something to do with Electric Eels. An guess what? Guitarist John Morton was in the Eels and You’re Full of Shit is an old Eels track. All this and a little bit more I learnt by searching the web. Isn’t it an amazing time we all live in.

The flip was comped on KBD Vol. 9 but I think 1980 is nearly as great. Love the intro when the bass comes in with it’s sounding-like-a-bee-swarm-pumping. Excellent! And not only was Morton able to write great songs. He was a good photographer too. The front cover is taken by him and maybe it’s his mother lying there naked and waiting for her son to jump her?

Rebell - Jag behover inte dig / 100 ar 7″

Monday, June 9th, 2008

This is a re-post from July the 10th 2006. Added more scans, new rips and 100 ar. First posted by the TV Eye // Drummer.

So here it is! One of the greatest pop punk 7″ ever released in Sweden! Jag behover inte dig is a great, great, great song, but when you flip the record over you’re in for an even bigger treat. 100 ar is such a hit it’s ridiculous. This band should have been huge and appear on every single Swedish punk compilation. Everything on this damn record is perfection itself, but then it was released on the fine label Stage & Music as well. I don’t know what else to say, so I’ll shut up. Enjoy!

DV8 - S/T 7″

Monday, June 9th, 2008

Repost from May the 14th 2008. The correct b-side scan added.

Sorry for being absent. Been moving to a new flat. Hell, that’s a huge pain carrying all the sex toys and records around. After that it was time for a trip to US/Minneapolis. No Husker Du didn’t get together. Saw Willful Neglect a couple times with Prince singing. Charming.

DV8 from Chicago. Not too far from Minneapolis. Still a total different sound from the Minneapolis bands. That’s how it was back in the golden shower days. Learn To Say Goodbye is VERY Clash influenced but still sounds fresh to my ears. The real keeper though is the flip Guns On The Right. What a total scorcher. Leaning to hardcore. Super tight playing and a well crafted tune makes up for what we oldies call a KILLER tune.

Thanks to Martin for keeping the site alive. More post from him will come. And from me too of course.

Bitch Boys - Hela Mitt Liv/Impopular 7″

Friday, June 6th, 2008

Bitch Boys! Such a great name for a young and snotty band, right! And if the rumors from way back in time about blow jobs and vomits in the same story are true they sure picked a well describing name for the band… Other rumors says they were so high on glue that they couldn’t get on stage and had to cancel a show in Gothenburg. True or not, it still shows that they had a great reputation when it came to punky behavior.

This is their second 7″ out of the four they did as a punk band and they are all well worth checking out, just as stated before. I think this is their best effort, but it’s a shame that the intro to Hela mitt liv drags on for so long. Good that the song kicks ass once the intro is over thou.

Vains - S/T E.P. 7″

Wednesday, June 4th, 2008

Another Duff McKagan band here. No Threes number 4 out of how many? Often entitled School Jerks 7″ but who the hell know what the title really are when looking at the sleeve? 3 Action Hits maybe? You may not believe in Vains but you cannot deny terror? I think 3 Action Hits is rather appropriate. Great punk rock songs with great punk rock lyrics. You can’t ask for more can you? A better text for this post maybe. Which makes me think of Husker Du: all I hear is bla bla bla bla. Thank you.

No Dubs - Brigad 45 B/ De Anhoriga split 7″

Monday, June 2nd, 2008

As far as I can remember this is one of the very few punk records that I’ve only seen in VG++ or mint condition, which makes no sense at all. It’s such a killer split that it deserves punks who vomit on it and uses it as an ashtray before they put it in a huge pile of other records until the next party.

It seems like most bands from the early punk/ power pop scene in Karlshamn had something to do with with these two bands as the members also appeared in Unter Den Linden, Nyx Negativ, ABC 80, True Lies etc. There’s no breeding like inbreeding I guess.

A funny game while listening to it is to locate the band members on the cover. So far I’ve only managed to find six of them, but one of these days I’ll find member number seven there as well…

Tre Man Stark - S/T 7″

Sunday, June 1st, 2008

Tre Man Stark came from Amal, and as a Swede you can’t really say the name of that village without adding “Fucking javlar kuk” in front of it thanks to the movie Fucking Amal (or Show me love” as it was called abroad).

The first two songs are great punk rock, but the last song Gunnar is a piece of crap that sounds like a dumb version of Arne Qvick’s killer tune Rosen. Despite the fact that it sucks the sweat of a dead man’s balls, the band thought it was a hit and (according to rumors) did a video for it!!! If anyone’s got a copy of that video, please let me know as I really want to see it.
