The Panics – S/T 7″

September 25th, 2008 by The Flakes // Drummer

I´m totally in love with this record. Cause it combines the best of two worlds: powerpop and sloppy punk rock. The flips cover of Bacharachs My Little Red Book. Holy shit! A cover performed as if no other then Elvis Costello and The Attractions had possessed their bodies. But first you have to go through a fantastic sneering punk tune with a guitar solo that just points a finger at you and scream FUCK YOU. The first of three seven inches from Floridas The Panics. Spin it now baby!

I didn’t enjoy this very much. I think Love (the band) did the best version of “Little Red Book”…just my stupid opinion. Thank you though, for letting me hear it.

  2. Nice piece of small art. Gotta luv the Panics.

WoW ! “Kill it” was very interesting. I liked that. I’ve heard about a dozen versions of “Little Red Book” and this is definitely the best one I’ve ever heard. Thanks for putting those up. Mr.G.
