Anti-Avans – Med Sverige I Tiden E.P. 7″

Fucking hell, I don’t know if it’s wordpress, dreamhost or if it’s my computer(probably your connection ed.note)that is slow today, but it took almost 2 hours to upload this 7″! Luckily I had a funny school book about marketing to read while I did it so it didn’t feel like a total waste of my precious time. Thank you Dan and Kaj for making me study full time on weekends as well!

OK, believe it or not, but this record was actually recorded and released in 1984! Yes, 1984, the Orwellian year when trallpunk, d-beat and Oj! was the thing in Sweden, and genetic hardcore was the thing in the US of A Anti-Avans managed to pay Asta Kask’s studio a visit and record five amazingly sloppy 79 sniffing punk songs with what might be the most out of time hand clap ever recorded. And they managed to redo the Lucia classic Stilla Natt, just like Asta Kask, The Pinheads and Desperate Livin’. I’m pretty damn sure another Swedish punk band have done it as well, but I can’t remember who… I’m sure it’ll come back to me sooner or later thou.

Hopefully this post will get the band some well deserved attention as I’m sure a lot of collector scums (yes, that includes you Peter) have ignored this one mainly because of the year it was released. I know I choose to ignore it until a friend played it for me and I was immediately hooked and had to find me a copy as soon as possible. It took about a week and cost me practically nothing. Unfortunately it didn’t come with an insert nor any of the 4 different zines the members did, so thank you Peter Jandreus for the insert.

I’ve heard some rumors that the band, or at least some of the members later on played in IFK Gamla Saxon who I’m sure you’ve all heard of thanks to their massive popularity all over the world in the late 80’s/ early 90’s.

The Silent Night theme? Kristinehamns finest, Slaskfittorna, did their version; “Slaskfittorna till jorden är kommen…”

  2. Damn it Senap, you sure got a soft spot for Slaskfittorna in your heart! Not the band I was thinking of thou, but it sure proves that it was a popular song to steal from.
And speaking of Slaskfittorna, I still remember the first time I heard that band name. Me and my mates, all in our early teens, was hanging out at Kulturhuset in Jönköping and trying to come up with a name for our first punk band when one of the older punks overheard our conversation and came over to help us out, or maybe just scare us. Anyway, he said he wanted to give us some inspiration and mentioned a bunch of already taken names, and one of them was Slaskfittorna. Ooh, that sure made us laugh so hard and I still remember how I wish we thought of such an awesomely rude name. And then a few years later the name appeared in Unni Drougge’s master piece Jag jag jag, but that time I’m quite sure it was a fictional band unless there was a female band with the same name in the late 70s/ early 80s.

  3. Senap says:

    LOL!
Didn’t know that Slaskfittorna were in that dreadful book, as a fictional band as you suspected, ’cause there were no girlband with that name. But that was almost as funny as when Tatuerade Snutkukar were mentioned in the awesome blockbuster Tjenare Kungen. Slaskfittorna rules, Anti-Avans don’t. Can’t figure out something positive to say about it now anyway.

  4. You got to be kidding! Anti-Avans would kick Slaskfittorna i kuken any time!
Tatuerade Snutkukar was another name that made me giggle as a young boy.

  5. Tony says:

Bra skit! IFK Gamla Saxon regerar (typ)!

  6. Oi Tony – just read the interviews with Rob and Rob Noxious and I would like to add a word or two of my own. Is it possible?

  7. Phlegm says:

what’s with “mikael trummor?” judging from that picture on the back, he was born without a neck.

  8. The Flakes // Drummer says:

And what’s with “Thomas gitarr”? Looks like he’s wearing a hat!!!

  9. Phlegm says:

yeah i think you’re right. punx don’t wear hats. what’s with that?

  10. Senap says:

    @”mikaeltrummor”-comment:
“How low can a punk get?”

  11. Phlegm says:

i’m assuming “trummor” is “drummer.” please excuse me, sirs.

  12. Haha Senap, how low can a punk get? Väldigt fyndigt! Jag tycker att det verkar vara folkförtryck på gång här, mobba stackars Micke bara för att han glömde ta med sig halsen till fotograferingen.

  13. The Flakes // Drummer says:

Men att glömma att ta av sig hatten innan fotograferingen är oförlåtligt!

  14. ANTIAVANS says:

    Dis is crap!

  15. ANTIAVANS, om du är en medlem från bandet får du gärna maila mig via denna sidan.

  16. Renik says:

This is an interesting 7inch. I like it.

  17. antiavans bob says:

    ANTI-AVANS RULES THE WORLD.
    bob.

  18. Nathan G says:

The world always needs more versions of Stilla Natt!!!! More, More please!!!

  19. This band came quite late (1984?) in the middle of the hardcore scene. I bought it when it was released and me and my friends (with tuppkams) was making jokes how bad it was. I like it better now but is still stigmatisied from a 1985 punk party in Örnsköldsvik. I guess Shas btw faced the same problem thowing away all the records….
