I’m 100 % sure that Can’t stand still was written after Colin Chew came up with that amazing drum beat as that has to be one of the most complicated drum beats ever. I have no idea of how many years he had to practice before he learned it, but I know that neither I or The Flakes//Drummer can play it yet. I’ve tried it so many many times but I just can’t do it. And pay attention to the speed as well! Holy macaroni Batman and up yours Massgrav!
No reason for your call sounds like Can’t stand still played backwards and a bit slower and it owes quite a lot to the Who. It could’ve been a pretty boring song, but luckily it’s catchy enough to get my attention, especially since I’m a sucker for songs where the singer mainly talks through the verses. And the way the drums kicks back into the song after the chorus always puts a smile on my face. Such a killer fill! Is it me, or is the bass slightly out of tune by the way? It’s me, right? It’s always me…

That drum beat would tax a jazzer for sure. And had they listened to Stranded by The Saints? No, it’s just coincidence.
For reasons unknown I always mix this band up with Handbag the band who played the Roxy club on numerous occasions in 77 in it’s 2nd phase. They had an LP released only in Italy I think. I’m sure this was posted up somehere on the Web but can I find it? Can I arse. Can anyone help?
Charlie if your talking about Headache they only ever had this one single recorded/released.The cracks started to show at this recording session when the record company insisted that the drummer Colin Chew be replaced by a professional called Spinetti who had played on early Joan Armatrading material. Colin never forgave the rest of the band and lost interest in music altogether. He was an exciting/mad drummer who taught me how to play,I went on to be described as “the new Keith Moon” admittedly by the guitarist of my group so that does’nt count for much. The B-side “no reason for your call does feature Colin Chew’s drumming,it’s much more authentic punk sound.
Hahahah, replace the original drummer with a “proffesional” dude who just keep the beat! How stupid of the label!

I somehow mix this band HEADACHE with THE TABLE,also for reasons unknown. The hEADACHE I find a solid late 1970´s UK-Punk.
One of my all time cheap thrill faves. Can always find this one – any day of the week – for under $10. I think I paid $5 for mine (along with the Zero’s ‘Hungry!’). Pure suburban glam Damned. Makes Eater sound shittier than they already do normally.

Hey Collin, I bought my copy together with the Zeros “Hungry” as well so they kind of goes hand in hand for me. I would say that Zeros are slightly better thou as Radio Fun always makes me jump around when I play it.
I am afraid I am the odd man out here.In my opinion anyway,this is one of the lesser records from the period and sounds more like rather bland 60’s garage rock and puts them in the catogory of also rans rather than anything special or original of which they are certainly not(Again in my own opinion).As for making Eater sound shittier than they already do,I am afraid I will have to strongly oppose that comment because as far as I am concerned,this lot couldn’t do Andy Blades laudry.Someone also had the nerve to compare these guys to Sham 69.Me thinks not by a long shot.Enough Said
John, Danny the singer loved EATER and would agree with you about not making them sound shitty.The problem Headache had was the creator/guitarist/songwriter Steve Headache, he was a fair bit older than the others and was an old WHO fan,for whom PUNK was a bit of a distraction.This first (only) single wasn’t meant to be heavier than “the kids are allright” or such.
You´re not alone John. I think this record is REALLY dull and uninspiring. Don´t get what the fuzz is about. Since Martin had written some nice text to it I let him post it.

Hi Gary,we probably met back then.The singer Danny is my brother so me and a couple of mates from school went to nearly all of the Greyhound (SNOOPY’S) gigs.Your right about the name change they were called the Electroes (notice the odd spelling).The first night we went there was an incident in which the pub/club was surrounded by ‘Teddy Boys’ spoiling for a fight,so we were locked in by the management until the old bill turned up.When we got home we learned that Elvis had died that evening,so there was a joke about Danny being Elvis reborn going around our house for a while……lol
