To put some balance to the rough and tough hardcore records posted here lately I thought I should post some sweet and sexy power pop. If you recognize the name of the band it might be because I posted the members previous band, Hangover, a few months ago. Where Hangover couldn’t make up their minds and decide if they wanted to play punk or great 50s influenced ballads, The Pictures made up their minds right away and went for a pop career/ whitest  afro model career! Huge is the word to say the least.

While you’re spending your precious time admiring the mod looking sleeve, make sure to check out the unusual credits given to Anders Pettersson on the back of the sleeve. How often do you see that in the credit list, I ask? Not enough, I answer. More staches in the credit- AND thank you lists from now on!

hi! both sleeve scans are of b-side! please fix this bug…. :-)
    thanks

  2. More almost-punk from Martin. Fuck, this is so horrible, I’d have attacked the band on stage if I were ever doomed to spend a night in a socialdemocratic townhall meeting with the mayor’s son & his buddies playing some rocking tunes after the “bingo for africa” event.

  3. Martin says:

This ain’t even remotely close to punk Erich, it’s pure pop for Pete’s sake!

  4. I wish this was pop, Martin, because good pop is good. This is just total rubbish trying to sound a little punk.

  5. I beg to differ Erich. I’m a pop kid at heart and this is pop none the less.

  6. Could we at least agree on “bad pop”?

  7. me says:

one of the very best things i’ve heard on KBD in a quite a while. let’s hear more of this kinda thing. thanks!

  8. Jay Thurston says:

Really, really, really bad pop…or almost pop??

  9. Senf says:

At the best; a good retrospective finger on how bad things could get in Sweden back in the daze.
But more worse is that it stinks. Wether it’s pop, rock, pop-punk, powerpop etc…; it’s most of all plain f*****g rubbish.

  10. The Flakes // Drummer says:

I have to agree. This is really bad. What’s good about it is that it makes me want to smash the record. That’s punk eh?

  11. Mike the Bike says:

What the hell are you talking about? This record kicks ass! I listened to Kicks and Tips twice a day for a month. It’s pure magic. Easily top 10 of the (many great) posts on KBD.

  12. Martin says:

    Thanks Mike,

    finally someone who got it!

  13. Romanne says:

Rebel 81 is a serious masterpiece.
