The reason for the trashy recording was that it was done on a 4 track cassette in the laundry room of my basement! He's still a great musician and a nice person. He has a lot of great stories about gigs at the Jockey Club and elsewhere. Where did all the girls go? Why are there only shirtless bald dudes rubbing against each other? It wasn't the speed of the music that was the problem, the Germs lp was already lightspeed, but Darby didn't sing like a drill sargeant. In '82 I stopped going to shows altogether for almost a year, until I realized I could head to Hollywood and see Red Cross, Joneses, Mau Maus, Endless Banana, stuff like that. . . missed Godzillas completely, never went there.
