Just fucking perfect Beatlesque powerpop out of LA. What is there not to like about this record. The boys are cute, they can sing and crank out pop that most of us just dream of. Under The Freeway is a mellow pop ballad that fits me like poop in the ass at the moment. It was a long time since I gave the first LP a spin but I remember it not being as good as this. Thank you Bomp!!

LOVELY!!!! Just right down my pop-alley!!! :-)
good choice, but can’t really go wrong with 20/20. “yellow pills” is another classic.
word up, this band rocks.
I first heard them in 1979, and detested “that pop crap” as it wasn’t “punk”, therefore it wasn’t good. Lo and behold…I have fallen victim to the 20/20 pop bug in the last year or so. Great, classic powerpop!!! Thanks Peter!! Keep the powerpop classics coming!!!
i was wondering 2 nights ago while playing the first album, why “oh cheri” wasnt a radio hit?
I think it was not a hit, because they never played it on the radio. I hope that helps?
I saw 20/20 play at the Wild Weekend Power Pop festival in Austin, TX last August, and they were surprisingly great. They played with tons of energy, and their voices sounded fantastic. One of the highlights of the event!
Radio Heartbeat Records of NYC should soon be releasing a 2xLP of unreleased 20/20 demos. Can’t wait. Last summer they released a 7″ of two unreleased songs from 1979 – “Going Up With My Girl” and “World of Fools” – both excellent.
How can I get a listen to these unreleased songs?! I know “Giving it all” which is awesome but I can’t seem to find it. I saw 20/20 in S.F. and they were hot! Got to meet Ron….cool guy! Who knows how to get in touch with Mike? Really need this music!
The mp3 of Giving… is right here. You can’t download it?
nice one… thanks
Great classic! Thanks. I used to have a 12″ Ep of this with an additional track which was “Drive”, and was my favorite 20/20 pop song from all the band material. I really enjoyed the last lp called “Sex Trap”, if I remember well… more punk vain with pop hooks.
Hi,
20/20 Yellow Pills was a big radio hit in LA on KROQ around 1980 or so!
I haven’t revisited all the LA powerpop from that era, but I remember 20/20 for having very prominent hooks!

20/20 were great. One powerpop band even the punks liked. Olivier is right that “Sex Trap” (from about 1983) was their last LP. Good one, too.
Thanks for the posting, Peter!
Sorry Felipe your comment got stuck among the spam.
One of my very favourite US powerpoppers. I even have a ’20/20 at the Whiskey’ badge.
Lucky bastard :)!!
Thanks man, I am also looking for their song Yellow Pills.
Sorry this is the only 20/20 7″ I have.
I just at a rummage sale today and found an original Syndicate of Sound album today…does that help??
Wow, My fave early late 79-80 band. Remember seeing them on bandstand. I never been able to find their fist album. I got “look out”.
On the subject of “worst post” (comments section for Tingel Tangal): This 20/20 record makes me cringe. The lyrics are pure corn, the earnestness is simply embarrassing, and the whole thing is just too annoyingly wimpy and precious. That the boys in the band obviously have the sensibilities of girls, I will be generous and at least applaud Peter for finally posting a record by members of the transgender community. But otherwise this is a horrible record on a generally great, great site.
“…posting a record by members of the transgender community.” HA HA HA HA LOL :D.
Who is this “Levi” person? Are you sure you are talking about the great 20/20 album with such greats as “Remember the Lightning” , “Yellow Pills” (one of the catchiest tunes ever!) , “Cheri” , “Leaving Your World” and other great tunes!!!!!
fantastic too! up the Beatles! thanks!
