Tingel Tangel – Tangel 7″

Obscure and really really great haunting synth punk on the a-side. More arty punk on the flip which is just as outstanding except for a short cheezy guitar solo. Like a more polished version of Besokarna. A thrift store find that’s been sitting in my collection waiting to be rediscovered. Apparently it’s a rather new discovery for some big swedish punk collectors here in Sweden so don’t expect me to know anything else about them. I guess they where from the Stockholm area since it’s recorded in Norsborg and the label has an address in Handen(ligger mellan Trosa och Fittja)?

Never mind the cover it’s scary as hell I know. Ugly? It’s worse. For the swedes we have some poetic stuff to digest if you check out the lyrics on the back.

Looks like the link to the A-side isn’t working?

    • TurbojugendTehama says:

A side isn’t working and the B side is fucking horrible!

      • The Flakes // Drummer says:

I fixed the link only for you so you can hate some more :). Punk is supposed to be horrible.

        • TurbojugendTehama says:

Oh my God…the A side is worse than the B side and it goes on and on and on and on and on…someone please stop it!!! This is by far the worst record you have ever posted Peter…

  2. Senap says:

Never heard this one before, or about it. Absolutely horrible!! :D

    • The Flakes // Drummer says:

Ha ha ha what the fuck :D! I feel special again. I really hope everyone hates it except me.

  3. Ian says:

    Haha, yeah, this one stinks.

  4. Jay Thurston says:

Peter, I will do you a big favor. Send me the record and I will gladly destroy it for you…for us. I will blow it into a million pieces and have my wife film it. It will be much better than listening to it. No one should have to suffer and hear this…just a thought

  5. The Flakes // Drummer says:

I heard your wife is used to holding the camera while you’re doing all kinds of crazy stuff. But this record will stay here forever and ever :).

  6. The Flakes // Drummer says:

Let me ask you if you guys who don’t like it are into stuff like King Crimson, Magma or anything arty at all? If not I know why you’re not getting it ;).

  7. Charlie M says:

    Nasty! Punk? Synth-punk? Surely not!

  8. The Flakes // Drummer says:

Ohh ho ho ha ha this is the most punk record I´ve posted. Glad you hate it ha ha.

  9. mh says:

    “Synth punk”? That’s an oxymoron.

  10. hairy palm says:

this is really really bad. The worst record posted in this blog ever.

  11. LHOOQtius says:

Perhaps it’s because I grew up in New York with the whole Art Punk and No Wave thing, but I think this record is freakin’ awesome.

  12. mh says:

    RE: “synth punk”.
I was trying to make a joke here. When I grew up “synth” was a swear word. Remember “Zynthslakt”? :-)
BUT the most retarded thing are these labels: “Acid punk, synth punk, folk punk” and God knows what else etc. And no, there aint no such thing as “saxophone punk” fortunately. Yet.

PS. I was banned from commenting under the Mercanaries posting. Even some proxys you have banned. Why the f..?

    • The Flakes // Drummer says:

Ahh a joke ;). Got it and agree on the too-much-labels.

I have some problems with the ban filter at the momen. Even I have been banned lately ha ha. Try to reload the page and see if it helps.

God damn it……now the b-side has REALLY grown on me! That guitar solo sounds like something the Lime Spiders would have blasted off on one of their great 80s 7″s and when the synth kicks in “Kalle Anka, blod och Banditer” as a whole sounds a bit like one of the better mid-80s neo garage-psych bands like the Stepford Husbands or maybe even a less graunchy Stomach Mouths…now there was a great Swe(garage)punk band.

  14. EEK says:

Punk CAN/SHOULD be dynamic. More like this please!

  15. Martin says:

This one was brand new to me, and since I’ve just listened to it once so far I’ll have to give it a few more spins before I can make up my mind about it. And as i happen to have a few days off soon I guess it’s time for me to throw up a few posts as well.

  16. Levi Johnston says:

I find if I spend time with my equal (ie., my twelve-year-old mistress, as opposed to my Wittgenstein/Weber-loving wife–who I’d happily pawn off on Erich), I like everything. But since Erich’s sexual identity is up in the air, I guess I too dislike this record.

  17. The Flakes // Drummer says:

It’s about time for you to do some posting Martin!

  18. Nick the Hat says:

I think the A side is awesome, love the weird horror synth part that creeps in every so often and the guitar sound and melody is tasty and angular. The vocals are uninspired but somehow work with them being kinda monotone and robotic. I actually think this is quite good.
I’m up for weird and experimental rock, especially with punk roots, but this is surly getting airplay on my stereo.

The B-side on the other hand is a bit challenging.

Great post, more like this would be welcome in a sea of straight forwardness.

  19. vulture says:

Not bad at all…the a side is more post/art punk-like with some krautrock influences creeping in, and the even the “cheesy solo” on the b side has some Snakefinger/Residents art damaged psyche thing happening. I like it.

  20. steffnr1 says:

i am the drummer in the band…he he he

  21. Sea Dog says:

Im totally feeling this. The b-side reminds me of Cabine C from Brazil. Not sure if anyone is familiar. Haunting is an appropriate description. This blog is awesome.

  22. Gabriella Pierrou says:

I really enjoyed recording it..! :-)
