actually the original dc hardcore kids were rich, living in georgetown and they were trying to recreate ’77 uk punk’s look and sound. what’s wrong with that? richmond hardcore scene is real to those in it and that’s all that counts. punk is all about making music you like for friends and hanging out. if you get enough friends, it’s a scene. richmond currently has a great hardcore scene. i don’t see any pretension, just a huge group of friends having fun. what is “the rest” that i am missing from your post? if 80′s hardcore changed the world or something, i must have missed it.

When bands break up & get back together years later are they nothing more than a cover band? Terry is dead. Why do a reunion?
Honestly, outside of the speed what makes this any different than some 80′s band playing the county fair?
Punk or not. HC or not. Show some integrity, no reunions ever.
Don’t do it for the “kids” the “fans”..whatever. Let it go. Who REALLY needs/wants to see a middle aged man shakes his ass.
Sad.
