The Doubt – S/T E.P. 7″

Know nothing about these Guinness filled lads from Ireland. With out of tune bass and catchy melodies they plow throw four semi hits. Time Out and Lookaway receives my highest recommendations. It’s a wonder Ireland did produce such catchy punk bands, but I guess the shittier the circumstances the happier the music. Even though they could be raw, like Stiff Little Fingers-Inflamable Material, the irish seems to have a certain knack for melodies. I don’t mind.

… and don’t you ever, ever, ever say a word against geetar solos again :-) wonderful, never heard this before.

    Amazing!

thanks for the great post. does Time Out end rather abruptly or did my computer not download the whole song?

  5. The Flakes // Drummer says:

The guitar solo on Contract Disorder sucks of course :D. The rest are just guitar melodies and not solos per se.

zach, Time Out fades out so I guess you have to download it again.

This one rules! Contract Disorder is so great that I missed the guitar solo! Very nice bass on Time Out too. Never heard it before, but I want it very bad. Is there a Dutch sleeve for this one by any chance?

  7. Ian says:

Great stuff on this one! I like all four, but Contract Disorder and Lookaway are the picks.

As for the raw ones, Stiff Little Fingers were not technically from Ireland. Belfast is in the North, part of the UK.

Love the labels, too. Both sides. Great post.

    RE: Dutch Sleeve

There never was a sleeve for this. 500 pressed and a number of them were destroyed, in a flood I believe. That would make it seem impossibly rare, but I’ve seen probably 4 copies just this year. And, all for sale at the $70 mark. Very much worth it.

Def my favorite slab to come out of Ireland. Got my copy as an unplayed stock copy from some store in Dublin a few years ago. Can’t remember the name of it. Great that the record was done as a 2 piece after the band split. Even better is the snare on the snare drum breaking halfway through the recording and just finishing it without one. I wish Sing Sing would reissue this…
