This Umea band (who chared one member with Anders Angest) started out under the amusing mokier Varm Tarm who then became The Samst before they changed their name to Dagen D and released this power popper in 1981 before they dissapeared into obscurity. It seems like this one was quite unknown outside of Sweden until a few months ago when copies started to pop up on Ebay, and if you’re like me and like this shit, make sure to keep an eye open for it as it’s still moderately priced.
The singer might have listened to Thastrom from Ebba Gron a bit too much, as a lot of bands did in the early 80′s, but I don’t really mind as both songs shows some fine song writing in the veins of Docent Dod. The cover shot shows the drummer Mats getting some extra attention from a cute bouncer during an Ebba Gron show, and it was mainly the cover that made me wanna get this 7″ in the first place. Top notch!

The drummer is the funniest shit I’ve ever seen. He looks like a gay Italian nazi cowboy. Typical Swede, I suppose.
drummer? I meant that bouncer.
Thanx for this (and the Mops previously). Really digging it on the first listen. I knew I would if it sounded like Docent Död.
As for too much Ebba Grön, I’ve listened to them every day for over a year (since I saw the Staten och kapitalet at Ultrahuset video). Never too much!
The B side is the better of the two songs!!! Reminds me of the Boys…
Peter, i want this 7″ NOW!
I don’t have it. It’s Martin who posted this :).
It’s been up on ebay 3 times this year. I think i know someone who got a spare copy as well. send me a mail and i’ll see what i can do.
you must buy it then! :)
Bom de mais o som, diferente!
Power Pop isn’t always my thing, but this disc is catchy, and with just enough edge to make me love it.
