Zombie. The only track that sucks. How I despise the whole zombie/horror/skulls bla bla imagery in punk and what not. I don’t know. It’s so ridiculous and overused I want to take a bite out of every human carrying a skull tattoo and make big skull tattoo flesh cake and send it to hell. Like seeing the Smiley symbol everywhere. Skulls and everything horror related needs to be banned NOW! Woho! So Mecht Mensch. I ripped it a looooonnng time ago but somehow it slipped under my radar. Being a fave forever it seems. Well at least since 1984 and onward. Not being as known as Void, United Mutation or Die Kreuzen I think it could be fair to say they’re in the same league and sounds somewhat similar. Before Mecht Mensch they where the Tar Babies whom released a fantastic 12″ EP that might get posted in the future too. Commenting away cause you need to inspire me to post more often now.

thanx soooo much for this!!! great, original and raging!!!
Now you might have something to write home about.
YEAH!!! :-D But i don’t think my mom will like this groundbreakin’ ep… :-(
I gave this record away.
Absolutely love this record! Land Of The Brave is the real winner. Kinda sounds like Discharge if they were from the US mid-west. Get posting that Tar Babies 12,” Peter!
Not bad for heavy metal.
awesome! thats a classic man. i was actually listening to that in my car yesterday… and the day b4 that hahaha. i have a mix with it on it.
i’l check otu your tracks tho, maybe they’re better rips then mine! :D
woah.. mine doesn’t even have that little bass lick at the start of whats right!! wtf!?! i got.. haha.. ripped off!
i wont apologize for the pun.
I love this record. The recording quality is piss poor though, and your rips sound better than my vinyl copy played on my turntable.
OH MY GAWD. PLEASE SOMEONE POST THE LONGPORT BUZZ 7″! I WANT IT SO BAD.
Longport buzz is in my list of records to post.
I forgot to mention, Buttcheese, that I spin “punk” records at the 500 Club every Tuesday nights. If you are ever in ‘Frisco, look me up.
If only I could. Unfortunately I’m stuck on this shitty little rock in the North Sea. Frisco sounds cool and California in general looks like heaven as it pours with rain in Nottingham today. In fact the USA would be our first choice if we wanted to settle anywhere other than the Un united Kingdom. My kids love the American thing and to be honest life would be pretty boring over here without the cultural influences of your great nation.
PS. My little daughter LOVES punk music especially the American stuff. To be honest the American bands have always fascinated me. They seem to have a very distinctive sound when compared to British punk. Stuff like Dead Kennedys, (from your neck of the woods I believe), Bad Brains, Black Flag and so on have always had heavy play in our house.
PPS I int surprised you gave this one away though…..
Are you going to look me up on Facebook???
Yeah. I will have to set it up as I am the only guy on the planet not on Face book! I will do it tomorrow now because I’ve got to feed the kids ans all that. I got 3 nights off work so it aint a problem. See you there.
Cool!!! Have a great day!
Jay, a man full of mysteries. How many records have you given away ha ha. First Minor Threat, Deep Wound and The Fix?
I told you, I gave away hundreds. Cracked Actor, Poison Idea(clear), Cause For Alarm, the Mad, Latin Dogs( I think I still have a sticker that came with it though)…the list goes on and on and on. I did keep my Heart Attack, God is Dead 7″… : ) I love that record!
This list seems to be growing with every classic 7″ that PEter posts. :-D
I love this 7″ and the comp tracks. Love love love. From a to z. That’s why I bootlegged it 20 years ago. :-)
So was that the comp. LP with Active Ingredients, Clitboys & Catatonics, Erich? I bought that in Winterthur when touring with my mate’s band, Quarantine back in 1996. A great record it it, too!
That’s the one. Still have a box full of it somewhere in my basement.
I agree about any horror theme being terrible, but I do like the song Zombie, horror or not.
You can also enjoy a couple of Mecht Mensch tracks here:

yes, the horror themes are overused, but i don’t have a problem with that. “zombie”, however, is a great song! this whole single is great – one of the best midwest bands ever! thanks for providing the lyrics!
a retro CD/LP is long overdue-better with TAR BABIES stuff
Pingback: Good bad Music for bad, bad Times! / TAR BABIES- Face the Music 12″EP (Bone Air Records, USA, 1983)
They released a recent vinyl with Mecht Mensch demo’s and Die Kreuzen on the flipside…look for it. I like the horror since at this time the Friday night popcorn party at our house after us kids finished our neighborhood games with 70 or so in the Mpls. 1st tier suburban neighborhood and it started with Horror Inc. featuring a horror movie then the 1/2 hour Shadow afterwords if we were still up. Yeah my youtube has Max the friendliest Crystal Skull and now the frightened are saying the Mitchell-Hedges skull is a fake–I say bullshit–it quickly kills whoever makes fun of it–a lesson we can all learn. My idea is a computer screen is clear plastic and see through like the skulls. But hey, the Misfits spoke to me back then with my horror love so I use that skull for our downundergound social network from the blog. So I posted the whole Crimson Ghost TV series at the DU blog. Also the Alfred Hitchcock Three Investigators book series with Al’s intro is classic stuff we used to read and one of them is the Talking Skull mysteries–so yeah I’m a bit nostalgic. Oh yeah I ripped this 7 too, an old favorite.
I really like a lot of the stuff you post and I visit your site a lot. I have to throw my 2 cents in on the whole horror thing though. I respect your opinion, but I just wanted to mention how much I think the old Misfits with Danzig were just excellent and even though it’s been ripped off and recycled agreeably to the point of annoyance, those guys were originals and wrote great songs. They did the late night horror/monster movie thing masterfully in my opinion and it was completely original at the time. I just don’t think it’s necessarily fair to lump them in with all of the crappy imitators. I hope you don’t mind me chiming in on that one. Thanks for the music, keep it up.
I gotta say..nothing wrong with lots of horror!!
I love this single. Got into it a long time ago because I liked the Tar Babies.
