I think Sweden along with the UK must’ve been the two scenes that went from utterly interesting and unique mix of bands and sounds in the late 70s early 80s to more or less complete rubbish from 1982 and onward. It strikes me every time I throw on one of these early swede punk records. Vacum from Sundsvall is just one of the many unique sounding bands from this period. Band and label mates with Massmedia yet two totally different sounds. How come people dismiss uniqueness in favor of conformity and stereotypes? I just can’t understand it. Well well enough of bullshit. Download Vacum and realize that some things where way better back in the days.

This record is FUCKING MAGIC!!!
I always LOVED this 7er. the vocals are so great! sounds like he’s singing about really mysterious stuff.
Kind of spot on about the lyrics ha ha.
Wheres my last to comments gone??
Never heard this one, it’s great!
Glad you like it Ian. By the way the new Lognhalsmottagningen has been ripped and will be posted soon.
$GOOD RECORD$
Awesome ep. all songs are real winners but “nr 20006″ really stand out due to an odd, almost 60′s garage-punk feel. Thanx for this!!!
I´d like to quote Evert Taube: “it does not amuse me to be unique”.
Well, isn’t the same thing happening right now with swedish punk-rock and electro bands?
They´re developing their own unique sound?
thank you kbd is a great mix of punk post punk verry lofi guitar sound not so big but charmy.
add Australia to that list. things got pretty bad after ’82.
time for a new post! some early powerpop-punk gem, maybe? ;-)
Soon chano soon i´ll post something you really really hate :).
nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!! :-D
Great post. This is the kind of diversity within the early punk genre is what drew to the music in the first place. Not the amalgamated blather of today’s anemic bands.
Massproduktion seems like a really interesting label. I was about to ask if there’s an online discography but…here’s some more info – http://www.massproduktion.com/history.html
Oh and…
http://www.massproduktion.com/catalogue.html for the discography
This is great stuff. And while I do really enjoy some of the “generic” Punk when it’s well done, the various crazy bands that were once called Punk really made the scene interesting.
Fortunately, interesting stuff is still out there, it’s just not always called Punk. When one goes to a real indie record store, and looks around outside the Punk bin at the shop, there’s all sorts of weird stuff out there for the finding.
too much swedish punk bands here…
swedians just don’t need punk…they’re too rich
We need it to fight the ugly poor masses.
Stipe, I don´t need no punk police here that´s why I deleted your last comment. Apparently your “know it all” attitude fits better into some other gengre then punk.
…but this is still great blog…great music here
cheers
