If both sides of this phenomenal record by a band that don´t need any introduction doesn´t make you cum in your pants/skirts I don´t know what´s wrong. On side-a Robyns powerpop genius shine brighter than ever before or after, and on the flip side Syd Barret lends his soul to Mr. Hitchcock. to crank out a LSD punk trip supervised by Captain Beefheart.

This was the first record that told me there was life beyond punk. Classic single, classic band.
Insanely popular post ha ha.
haha. it’s pretty good. thanks!
Genius. But then, everything Hitchcock does is genius.
I prefer the Soft Boys single that TV EYE posted if only for the fact that the cover art reminds me of time spent with my dear mother. I would be lying if I said I recognized the Spaceward sound, but the production on this is comparably too slick. On the other hand (my only hand that was not lost in ‘Nam), much of what Robyn Hitchcock has done is great, even if a bit playerly and over-produced. Thanks for the post.
I love the b-side in particular (though it may be a diff version to the great version on ‘Can Of Bees’ – one of my all time fave LPs) and always wished they’d done more in this upbeat vein, like Yodelling Hoover and Wading Through a Ventilator for example.
Hehe, interesting band!
