Voodoo Idols – We Dig Nixon 7″

Second installment from Floridas Voodoo Idols is a bit better known due to We dig Nixons inclusion on KBD #10. For some reason people either hate or love We dig… Can’t understand why since it’s a pretty straight forward history with killer vocals(just as the first one). Can you imagine a UK band or any other European punk band for that matter around this time cranking out a lyric like We dig Nixon without getting beheaded by the PC punks? Didn’t think so. So fuck you! I dig Nixon!

The 2 VI 7″s are great in a Cramps/Gun Club sort of way. The two 12″s are real stinkers.

  2. Mike Danger says:

This is killer thanks! Fell in love with em after
    i heard do the Kirk

  3. GraemeSTL says:

Well, the Notsensibles did ‘I’m in love with Margaret Thatcher’ and weren’t jumped upon by the PC punks for exactly the same reason that the Voodoo Idols weren’t.

    • The Flakes // Drummer says:

But times had changed quiet a bit from 1980, release of Maragaret which would be a perfect post after this one, to 1982?

  4. Tim says:

they should play this at weddings

  5. Monger says:

Certainly one to anger old hardline leftists/hippies.In Fact,Nixon still does such a good job still,i added a Nixon/Agnew bumpersticker to my 1967 barracuda. This is the best 7″ by these guys..i didnt hear them, but im told the lp’s are stiffs

  6. Chris g says:

shit man, this is the missing link

  7. B.C. Miller says:

I kinda like the Temptation LP from 84. Not punk, it’s like eccentric garage, kinda swampy, a bit like “Rat Bait” by Swimming Pool Q’s, or the first Beasts of Bourbon LP. Obviously influenced by Flesheaters and Gun Club circa “Miami”. Thin production, kinda tame, lots of horn buried in scree guitar noodling and goatish hollers. Fails to be the “Safe as Milk” of the ’80s, but more than listenable.

  8. Jimby says:

Hey I thought this was a double 7″? Or is that another version?

  9. Jimby says:

i’ll post some pix when I get home

  10. Jimby says:

    • Jimby says:

erm thats weird anyway, I just noticed you posted the other 7″ in this package as the 1st 7″… could it be they made some doubles from both together? The coverart of the 1st 7″ is also included in an insert.. hmmm

  11. Ian says:

    New month, new post!

  12. S Agnew says:

Wish I had never sold my original 7″. Love it!

  13. Monger says:

never saw the double 7″ package before..maybe they were trying to unload some of the leftover first ones? or its like the chaingang deuce package?

  14. 0101001x_x says:

HA! The cover art says everything about today’s politically correct punks… FK YOU! WE DIG NIXON!
