T.S.T. – V-as punx E.P. 7″

Here’s a bunch of proud punx from Vasteras who once almost gave up on their punk career for a more new wave influenced one. Lucky for us they heard the new UK hardcore bands and decided to stay on the punk train to nowhere. The Shock Treatment, as the Ramones song the band took it name from, has to be one of the longest running punk bands in Sweden as they were formed in 1977 and released their last LP in 1988 although they continued playing sporadically for yet another 10 years after that.

This is the bands first release after some demos, and their only release with a song in Swedish, so even you non-Swedish speaking muppets can understand what they sing about.

I’m surprised that this E.P. haven’t been posted on another punk blog (at least I haven’t found it posted somewhere yet) concidering both the band, and their behaviour, is quite legendary and the band has been comped on various collector scum compilations. Their first and second 12″ will show up here if Peter allows me to post them. I know he ain’t too found of them, but they have a bunch of quality songs in my opinion, as well as a few oh-no-tracks.

PS. As some people want us to say how rare records are, this one was sold for about 4500 SEK, which should be about $650, last time I saw it for sale. Glad I got it in a trade. DS.

  2. The Flakes // Drummer says:

Unfortunately the rips have the same problem here as with The Mutants Martin.

It’s a great record and the only thing they did worth having IMO.

  3. Erich says:

Much better than that (gatefold) LP I used to have. Thanks for sharing.

  4. Martin says:

NOT ENOUGH COMMENTS ON THIS ONE!!!!! Giving a post a thubs up on facebook is not enough IMO. I miss Jay, he always had something evil to say about my posts.

I feel really surprised with this band from Sweden…I think I have many years listening the same bands, or similar sounds..but this band have something special…I love the sound of this swedish guys. Vaktarnas varld and I’m looking at you are my favorite two and V-as punx is probably the shortest song I ever listened, so cool for that hahaha! Cheers on this post!

  7. Alt says:

The Intro in ‘Im looking At You’ sounds like Christian Death’s Romeo’s Distress.
    Great!!!

  8. Scott says:

Did he just call me a non-Swedish speaking muppet? God I love this fucking site! Thanks for all the underground masterpieces. If there was any other punks in this hell hole of a town listening to this shit would give me some kindof faggoty cred.

  9. This is a great EP and this is the only post I have seen. Thanks. I guess one reason is that it quite hard to find. According to band interviews in severall fanzines it was pressed in 300 copies. The cost of recording and the pressing did not cover that at all. The guys where also some political active as they where involved in occupation and did some time. I’m glad they did not turn into new wave and that they could stand up for the music in Västerås, Sweden – a city that does not have much to offer when it comes to Music (okay- kill me!!!). Some of the guys moved over to other bands including some quite good black and death metal bands (I know – wrong forum – just for info)
