The Tours – Language School/Foreign Girls 7″

Never heard about this one before my lovely wife gave me a copy of Mario Panciera’s book 45 revolutions, and right after I read about it, a copy showed up on a popular net auction site with sound clips, and the a-side was one of the best pop songs I’ve heard in quite a while, so I bought it. I guess I paid a few dollars more than what it usually sells for, but so what. Sometimes most people bid before they think, so I think it’s OK if I do it as well. If you’re like me, and love this infectious slice of pop heaven, and the very smart looking sleeve,  it’s easy to find. And it’s a must to own it! Now try to get “Language school” out of your head…

A fave since Powerpearls vol. 1! Thanks for this.

  2. Dave says:

    I think the b-side is catchier?…. I like this a lot. Almost sounds Plimsouls-ish.

  3. Jenny says:

    You’re married?

  4. Dave says:

    Yeah, marriage isn’t very punk.

  5. Stephen (AI) says:

‘Language School’ sounds like the first time you drank five beers and then shot it out with the cops. ‘Foreign Girls’ sounds more like Marshall Crenshaw (one imagines), or apparently the Plimsouls. But fuck, what a solid 7-inch! How many bands have achieved as much?
    A: Not enough.

And all hail the elegant cover. How many have done less with more?

  6. jackson says:

this is a cathy one.. always been more attracted to the uk pop rather than punk.

  7. Dave says:

Very SST-looking sleeve to me, for some reason. I don’t know, there’s something about the type font and the color that reminds me of Black Flag or Meat Puppets or Minutemen or something.

  8. sir hake says:

  9. bristolboy says:

    – The PVC sleeve comes in a variety of colours not just purple (8 according to 45 revs) There’s also a b/w card sleeve
    – If you like this I’d recommend most of the other things by the lead singer Ronnie Mayor (45 under own name or “da biz”)

  10. steve says:

One of the greatest records ever made. I’m still missing a couple of the sleeves, but I shall not rest…

  11. Monger says:

Not terrible but no great shakes either.Just didnt “send me”,but theres a lot worse out there.A lot!!! Happy Holidays to the worldwide record junkie crowd.

  12. gregor says:

did anyone hear their 2nd single “tourist information”?

  13. Andy says:

Language School was a great follow up. There is an album out there now, titled, The Greatest Album Never Made or something similar packed with great demos. Oh what might have been.
