The Boat People – Capitalist 7″

Even though it’s from USA I imagine this is a record even Martin/The Faintest Idea Drummer will like cause of its complete amateurishness and sloppiness. And the drum sound!!! Powerful and awesome tin can sound. I don’t know if the snare was broken, he hated the sound of it or just didn’t care to put it on. But that’s what makes this record so special. Of course the songs are great too. Post-punk on Capitalist and HC post-punk on John Dillinger. By the way the intro to John Dillinger NEEDS to be put on repeat a couple of times! Genius!

This is great! Never heard of these guys… Any other releases? If the mekons had been big fans of the proletariat maybe this woulda been the result. B side gives me an early MDC vibe (never a bad thing). Bonus points for a great sleeve too…

According to what I have found online this band was from Grand Island, Nebraska.

This is great – thank you!

I do like this! Love that the drummer just got a snare and a floor tom and the bass player is pretty good. I’d imagen them as sort of buskers, but in a good way.
