You’ve been searching all day long for the perfect punk rock song and all of a sudden you find it here: Rockwrock. Flip flip. Hiroshima Mon Amour. It might not be punk? Pays more than its fare share to Roxy Music maybe. I love it. All hail violins in punk rock.

PS
This is the not so rare Egyptian tape sleeve variation.

This is surprisingly good! The B -side i would actually call great – violin is jaggedy & abrasive, guitars are loud & angular, lyrics slightly cheesy – ticks all the art-rock boxes. I have that first (?) album where they are all wearing leather pants on the front cover (one featuring a rather prominent member) and it blows, but this is pretty tasty!

  2. Stig Dangerman says:

Hiroshima Mon Amour very well could have been the inspiration for Nagasaki Nighmare, but instead of picking up a violin I think Phil Free plays a ukelele.

Neither here nor there, but raggare is mentioned in today’s NY Times’ Automobile section, “Detroit Love, Swedish Style.” I have to admit that I too share the “drinking habits of a Lynyrd Skynyrd concertgoer.”

just punk. a great and amazing punk

More than anything else i like this: http://youtu.be/YhTGkG1-gro but these two songs are very good, too. Ultravox! were quite an odd band: they were somewhat ambiguous and decadent in their references to David Bowie and Roxy Music, but also knew how to write violent Punk Rock slashers (“Young Savages”). Well, I still like ’em! Cheers!!

The first 16 seconds of WROCKrock is the real deal of 77 punk-glam rock. The rest of the song is pretty good and the B-side stills enjoy me.

  6. Dewey Decimal says:

    Great vox on Rockwrock!

  7. Donovan says:

the peel sessions is quite good as well.
