Sick Pleasure – S/T E.P. 7″

You probably know that Sick Pleasure became Code Of Honor. Before SP Dave/Bass where in the mysterious X-Iles that released a 7inch posted a long time ago. CoH members went on to Verbal Abuse where they teamed up with the singer from SP once again. Why I just wrote this I don’t know since you can just check the family tree insert attached. But at least I managed to make this text a bit longer than usually. Anyway this a fantastic piece of american punk rock and hardcore from start to finish. And still underrated I think.

Here’s a killer video that I can watch over and over again:

got this and have always loved its snottiness…thats a pretty slick video btw – is that one of the old Target vids? love the logo too…Nicki sikkis love of speed didnt work out so great for him tho…recall reading somewhere he did a few yrs jail-time…

This is really, really great! Really snotty and aggressive, and good tunes too. I can’t recall hearing it before even though the name is very familiar. Horrible artwork, but great logo. I need to pick up a copy of it some day. Weird that it isn’t on any of the kbd etc comps as it would fit perfectly.

Up tempo , vocals with crushed glass into the throat , distorted guitar : a winner

Sick Pleasure have never been one of my faves. Let’s just say that i’ve always considered ’em inferior to Code Of Honor (even if it was pretty much the same band), although this ep is a lot better than their cuts on the split with COD. Especially “Speed Rules” and “I Wanna Burn…” are pretty damn rude&crude. Thanks for sharing. p.s.:the clip is AWESOME; sheer nihilistic rage.

  5. Thomas says:

Nihilism – that’s what it’s all about here!
This video clip hits a distressed observer with the music and the lyrics of the band and the behaviour of the crowd (Self-mutilation is fun!). Wild times…
Same spirit like Bad Posture, The Fuck-Up’s (the San Francisco ones!), the Germs, ISM and so on.

Really surprising that none of the Sick Pleasure records have been reissued! This is so good. I love the snotty punk vocals of Nikki so much. It is way better than Code Of Honor!

It’s a bit of a sad tale, really – the VHS containing rest of the Sick Pleasure videos shot at this session were stolen from Target right after the ’89 earthquake – which totalled the building at 678 South Van Ness – and someone (who will remain nameless, but his name is Mike Fox) can’t be arsed to find and restore the Sick Pleasure master tapes. What a cunt.
I’m back in the UK now, and banned from the USA, so I really can’t do anything about it.
