Ramones – Blitzkrieg Bop/Havana Affair 7″

A gentleman over at the KBD Facebook fan page asked if Ramones is a swedish band. He never heard of them. So here’s a real KBD obscurity. The band was actually invented by the swedish clothing chain H&M in 1974. A couple of years ago they decided to make the Ramones a bit more known and started selling t-shirts that has become immensely popular. Who’ve guessed one of the most obscure bands in punk rock would get this kind of recognition?

This is the Ramones first 7inch and I think it’s the rather rare Indian sleeve variation.

Very informative text, thanks for your time of all research about obscure bands within new wave et al.

That font rules by the way, and I seriously doubt a lot of bands would think of using that one on their sleeve less than a year later. Very unpunk.

You’re right about the font, but it seems unlikely the Ramones had a say in it. The art department has to churn something out, and they don’t know from punk rock aesthetics.

Early Ramones is simply perfect! One of the best band ever!

    Hi there,

as for the sleeve above, it is easy to see that this is the French variation. Look on the back where it says “C’est une publication Phonogram” (bottom left).

    Greatst band ever!

  6. Billy K says:

Agreed Ramones most probably didn’t have a say in what font was used on a French pressing of a single, but likely they did OK the reverse sleeve of their hallowed debut LP – Kabel grooviness all the way (I think).

    The first punk band.
    They started it all.
