First The Nuns and now the Weirdos. What’s next? Exploited, Clash and Sex Pistols? Probably. Some records that are quiet known still deserves some more exposure. And come on it’s on one of the best punk labels ever. The packaging of all their releases is just amazing. And the Dangerhouse logo looks sooo good. Weirdos, some art students that dressed cool and made some great tunes. You know them and I can stop writing here which is a relief.

pagans_six_label_a.jpgpagans_six_label_b.jpg

So atonal, amateurish and damn great. Two chords and the talent to sing out of tune. You didn’t need more then that to form your very own punk rock band. And The Pagans realized that. Can’t think of a single record released in 1977 that sounds more PUNK then this. You know in the sense how it was portrayed in the media and conceived by the masses. The Pagans released some seven inches after this that where miles better but then again concidering it was done in 1977 all by themself…

I’ve added a couple of new links! Sorry for letting you guys wait. I’ve also received a couple of mails that showed up when I visited my webmail but when at home trying to download them they’ve mysteriously vanished. If you know you need an answer please write again.

Randoms - ABCD/Let’s Get Rid Of New York 7″

randoms_front.jpgrandoms_back.jpg
randoms_label_a.jpgrandoms_label_b.jpg

Can’t go wrong with them Dangerhouse records. Here’s the first release featuring the Randoms. ABCD don’t do much to me. Pretty dull and too long Dolls/Thunderish boring rock n roll. But the b-side! BUT THE B-SIDE my friends!! Mia madre! What a super duper punk rock of a song. Randoms had K.K. Barret from the Screamers on drums, John Doe from X on bass and Pat Garrett, later found in Black Randy And The Metrosquad and also one of the founders of Dangerhouse, on guitar and vocals.

From Break My Face:
He recorded the other side, “Let’s Get Rid Of New York” in different rooms of his Hollywood house on four track. I remember watching Pat cut the vocals in the kitchen, and having to go home and change clothes because I pissed in my pants from laughing so hard.

I just love New York City! Where else can you get a fresh bagel at two in the morning?!“-Adolph Hitler

Ok, this site ain’t dedicated to more known bands no matter how good they are. But some known bands just needs to be posted. The Cortinas is one of them. And another reasons is that it’s great to pull in them known bands when I don’t have the time to write something worthwhile(as if I ever have ha ha) cause you can find just about everything about them just by googling or yahooing. This is punk with a lot of swinging rock in it. Over the top song writing makes this one of my faves from 1977.

X Ray Spex - Oh Bondage Up Yours 7″

A timeless classic. Here’s a german sleeve variation. Who designed all these great looking german sleeves from bands like this, XTC(Science Friction), Buzzcocks, Ultravox etc?

Incredible how such a powerful and naughty voice could come out of such a little girl.

Some people think that little girls shall be seen and not heard. But I think…Oh bondage up yours! 1 2 3 4!

Bind me tie me
Chain me to the wall I wanna be a slave
To you all

Oh bondage up yours
Oh bondage no more
Oh bondage up yours
Oh bondage no more

Chain-store chain-smoke
I consume you all
Chain-gang chain-mail
I don’t think at all

Oh bondage up yours
Oh bondage no more
Oh bondage up yours
Oh bondage no more

Thrash me crash me
Beat me till I fall
I wanna be a victim
For you all

Oh bondage up yours
Oh bondage no more
Oh bondage up yours
Oh bondage no more

Ultravox - Frozen Ones 7″

ultravox_frosen_front.jpgultravox_frosen_back.jpgultravox_frosen_label_b.jpgultravox_frosen_label_a.jpg

I was frozen to the TV with my tape recorder held up to the speakers. 10 years old and this was one of the first live shows from a punk band aired on Swedish television autumn 1977. I loved their two first LPs to death. Ahead of their time along with the likes of Devo. And as with Devo, Ultravox first LP was produced by the master mind Brian Eno. Ha! Ha! ha! their second one released the same year is even better. Punked up progg rock maybe. Electric violin and keyboard.

Sure this isn’t an obscure band but maybe too many people associate Ultravox with their later New Romantic period that I can’t stand. Listen to Frozen Ones and realize that this is the kind of music you don’t hear anymore. Punk Rock was so diverse once. What happened?

Midge Ure was at this time in PVC 2 who released the amazing Put You In The Picture 7inch which after he joined the Rich Kids covered it on their Ghost Of Princess In Towers LP. After Rich Kids he went on to Ultravox.

This is a german sleeve variation. Was it released elsewhere?

This is a re-post from March the 28th 2006. Added more scans and Killer Man.

One of the best vinyl released in 1977. The sleeve is just fantastic. And just as the sleeve promise the two songs that these frog eaters delivers are fantastic too. If I have to choose one of these killer tracks I’ll go with “Radio Flic” so that’s what you’re getting here. Now go eat snails and buy some French Fries OPS! I meant Freedom Fries.

This is a re-post from April the 29th 2006. Added more scans and I Gave My Punk Jacket To Rickie since it’s not available at James site anymore.

I know that James over at the excellent MP3 blog Worthless Trash posted the a-side “I Gave My Punk Jacket to Rickie” so head over there and pick it up. Here’s the equally excellent b-side. This was one of John Peels(may he rest in peace) favourite records. The back of the sleeve is hold togheter with two small safety pins. How punk rock!

snots_front.jpgsnots_back.jpgsnots_label_a.jpgsnots_label_b.jpg

Bill Riefland who later joined the somewhat more famous Ministry was a member of Seattles ‘Snots. So Long To The Sixties have been comped on the Killed By Death series. And rightly so since it’s an awesome track that got just the right amount of catchieness to make your head bop. New York Love Letter is good too but don’t hold up to the first track. Somewhat psychedelic punk rock and I give points for originality. It’s Later Than You Think is a long experimental track that I’ve uploaded just for Erich over at Good Bad Music since I know he’ll love it. So Long To The 90’s!
