First installment of the fantastic The Eat. I like the second, posted some months ago, release but this is an insane piece of punk rock. And it’s recorded live! I hardly like live recordings but here it works perfect. It got so much energy and inspiration I can picture the whole band in front of me while the needle carves its way into vinyl. And last and most important: the songs are short! And the sleeve!! Take a look at it ladies and gentlemen! Can it get much better? Let’s see when a new post hits the blog if I can top this.

I’ve been looking for this after hearing it at the excellent Worthless Trash blog. James does an incredible job and I have to make a plug for it once again via this post.

I think the real winner is Get Out… A powerpop/punk smasher that sounds like some skilled musicians wanting to jump the new wave bandwagon. And of course they get away with it.

I won’t write more about Airship but instead you shall head over to Worthless Trash and read all about it.

Have I ever used the word “killer” to let you know how great a song is? Or that it “destroys”? Both these superlatives can be applied to describe White Stains by The Molls. That end when it gets really chaotic and it sounds like a schizo saxophone enters the song makes me want to yell: Hell yeah! Is Chesty Dead? is not as hooky and direct but still a great and creepy song. Peter Prescott who would later turn up in Mission Of Burma do the drums. Dosen’t seem like he was a regular member cause his name is not in bold on the back as the others.

Just built me a new PC so I’ll try out a new format for the mp3s. They’re now recorded in 24 bit and exported in 256kbps. Any difference sound wise? Let me know pllleeeasee.

The Accident - Kill The Bee Gees 7″

I don’t know how well this reissue compares to the original. Sounds good to my ears even if it happened too many times that reissues or boots don’t come close to the original. Kill The Bee Gees is a good but not great track. A bit too long for my taste. I like it most cause of the line:”Kill the Bee Gees right now.” that’s punk ain’t it? True Detective is quiet boring powerpopishpunker without the hooks.

Did you read the story about how this one ended up on Kurt Blochs No Threes Records? “They asked Kurt if they could release a single on ‘his label’. He tried to explain to them that it wasn’t really a label to begin with, and that nothing had been released at that point.

The singer reminds me of someonelse that I can’t recall the name of. Some people found his voice disturbing but I love it. Ok, maybe it wouldn’t hold for a full LP but for a 7inch it works perfect. Desperate and monotonies. Standing By The Window is easily the best track with its intense and infectious guitar melody but I also like the more XTCish/artpunky Buried Country and Watch My Hands comes in close to the a-side in quality.

Of course Inner City Sound have released some Tactics stuff:

Ah Sweden!! I love my country. And I love the old punk rock that our beautiful country have provided us with. P3 is an intense dirty track that speaks out against the best radio channel we had and still have. Inte vanda mig om is pure swedish progg or something that the famous Ted Gardestad could’ve done. Not bad. But it’s not punk. A perfect song coupled with a pipe of hash, swedish folkol and a fat bird on a warm summer night. Morgan the bass player made a great 7inch and is also rumored to have produced the two first 7inches by Rude Kids.

Too bad the b-side doesn’t live up to the high quality of Get Out. So intense. The bass sound and the way he plays it is just amazing. And what a break after the second chorus!! Hilarious sloppy drumming done the right way. Clocks in on 1:20 which means this is one of the best punk rock you’ll ever here.

By the way, this has to be one of the most amazing sleeves I’ve seen due to the prettiness of these boys. Who shall I choose? I think I’ll go with Steven Lightfoot.

Why Noise ain’t as hyped as Kriminella Gitarrer beats me. They’re on the same label and nearly as great. What makes Noise stands out is their use of synth which is quiet high in the mix. I don’t mind. Sounds great to my ears. Here’s Noise debut 7inch. Their second one Stopp! is great too. You think this was a short text? Well I need to take a dump. See ya!

Thanks to Jimmi Quidd(vocals) the Bad Brains was able to record “Pay To Cum” during their time in NY in 1979. Quidd took money out of his own pocket to finance the recording that wasn’t released until 1980. Quidd also produced “Nine Toes Later” by The Undead(ex Misfit member). The title track is a great up beat punk/powerpop thrasher. Jimi died in 1990. Thank you Jimi for this and the Bad Brains.
