Cinecyde - I Left My Heart In Detroit City LP 12″

Saturday, September 2nd, 2006

cinecyde_detroitcity.jpgToo bad there’s only three good tracks on this one. The production on the other hand makes it sometimes worthwhile to listen through the whole thing. Incredible punchy! If this had been a 7inch with Don’t Come… and Enemy Man it would’ve been a monster. A perfect mix of punky powerpop with a slight hard rock influence(hey it’s from Detroit!).

The self-designed cardboard sleeve saw Cinecyde singer Gary Reichel and guitarist Jim Olenski machine-gunned to bits by the band’s SS-suited drummer, Roger Wesch.

Savage Circle - S/T E.P. 7″

Tuesday, August 15th, 2006

savagecircle.jpgOne of those old HC bands that insisted to have yet another song about Hardcore: Hardcore Rules. Ha ha even back then it made me laugh. It was so incredible silly. Just like Exploited and their likes shouting Punks Not Dead. That is humour! Great but somewhat generic 5 tracker with short songs that deserves a couple of spins. From Bronx,NY, USA. And don’t forgett that Hardcore Rules!

PVP - El Coche De La Plas 7″

Friday, August 11th, 2006

pvp_elcoche.jpgThe a-side is a bad ska song draging on for 4:14 so we just have to skip that one. Descontrol on the flip is a diffrent story though. Great driven punk rock backed by the spanish language that give it that special desperate touch. Just like italian for that matter.

Must be a bummer to record the spanish singing bands considering all the s’s buried in there. Anyone have some tasty info about PVP to share? I think this is their second release after the Miedo 7inch released the same year and that’ve been comped on Bloodstains Across Spain.

Code Of Honor - What Are We Gonna Do? 7″

Saturday, July 29th, 2006

codeofhonor.jpgIt’s US HC day today kids in case you haven’t realised that? I saw the trailer for the American Hardcore movie today and got just as inspired as I used to get when I was younger. I can still feel it.

The book that the movie is based around is ok though I often feel I knew more and was more involved in the US HC scene then Steve Blush was though I lived in Sweden.

Anyway here’s Code Of Honor with their debute 7inch released by the long going Subterranean Records. Just as great as their split with Sick Pleasure. And dude there’s a skateboarder on the sleeve! Rad man!

K Tonics - Calgary Girls 7″

Thursday, July 27th, 2006

ktonics_cover.jpgReally great punk rock songs have one thing in common with great dicks: they’re short. Like this cover of Zappas Calgary Girls that clocks in on 1:32.

Totaly obscure 7inch by Canadas K Tonics that won a contest that was held by a radio staion in Edmonton/Canada named K-97. The prize was to appear on this split togheter with The Crash who do a loosy cover of an allready loosy song: Should I Stay Or Should I Go. Is this their only release?

Electric Deads - Order E.P. 7″

Thursday, July 27th, 2006

electricdeads_order.jpgDenmarks Electric Deads released three great 7inches and this is their debute from 1982. They formed in november 1981 and broke up in the summer of 1984.

Great HC with the raving Bibbi(who sounds totaly drunk here) on vocals. If anyone can figure what the hell he and she is screaming in the beginning of Order then you’re welcome to comment. On here is the first version of Fish In A Pool that reappeared on their last record. Compact Chaos is too bad to be post here. Slow, generic and boring.

Dub Rifles - No Town No Country E.P. 7″

Thursday, July 6th, 2006

dubrifles.jpgAbsolutly awful 7inch except for one track that is really good. Sent to me by Mr. Rob Noxius(Guy Robert Archambue, lewdsnot, zoloft_anaconda) to make up for my loss dealing with him. He sent a bunch of total crap 7inches that he though I could sell. Ha ha what an idiot. According to him every 7inch was worth at least $14. So if anyone want to buy this 7inch for $14 then let me know!

Originally formed in 1980 in Winnipeg, Canada. The Dub Rifles 5 piece line-up (2 saxes, guitar, bass, drums) combined their primary influences of Motown, Stax, punk (60s and 70s variety), dub reggae, and original 60s ska into a highly danceable big rhythm blend that knocked them for a loop wherever they had an opportunity to lay it down.

Authorities - Soundrack For Trouble E.P. 7″

Wednesday, July 5th, 2006

authorities_soundtrack.jpg“Play this record loud, play it often, and play it under the influence of large amounts of alcohol.”. The forementioned wise words can be found on the back of the sleeve. I don’t know if “Löken” the basist of the long going swedish HC band Rovsvett and an old friend of mine was drunk when he gave this record to me. I was lucky as hell but never dared to play it drunk though. My first encounter with the Authorities was I Hate Cops on the “We Got Power” compilation and was of course blown away.

I was never kicked out of the band, I quit the band because some of the members were doing Heroin and I knew I didn’t want to die from trying that type of Drug, nore would I ever try it. Also I’m the guy who wrote the song ‘Shot In The Head’.
