Final Conflict – S/T E.P. 7″

Monday, March 1st, 2010

Don’t let the name and INCREDIBLE ugly cover scare you away. It would lead you to believe it’s another mediocre mid 80’s Euro HC or d-clone band but it’s not. What immediately comes to mind is a mix of Void, United Mutation and early Husker Du. Yeah it’s that good! Still, as with 90% of the early 80’s USHC/punk bands, they have a sound of their own(how many times have I used this exact sentence?). And talking about Husker Du it’s produced by no other then the living God Bob Mould. So do anybody know if they released anything else or what happened to ‘em? Fuck powerpop, Fuck New Wave, This is Hardcore. You’re a slave.

Yet another non-Swedish post from me! I’m full of surprises and do good attitude, but you guys just fuck with my head. You always want to hear new records, but you won’t pay for them. That’s what I call greed! I know a lot of you who visits this site are family men and women with perfect houses and dogs, but once you comment here you want to appear like you don’t fit in society. You’re just trying to give yourself a bad rep, but I see right through the tough guy attitude you guys want to show here. It’s not like I don’t like it as it’s always fun to be dissed, but to be honest to all of you readers and downloaders out there, I won’t kill for you, if you know what I mean. I’m just speaking my mind here, so if you are one of those “we’re all one big crew and if anyone fucks with us, we’ll get back at them” poser, think again as you’re sleepwalking in a dream world. Or just keep on posing, I don’t care. Is there anyone at all out there who cares?

Koro – S/T E.P. 7″

Just as Erich I kept the Koro sleeve in a NASTY hard PVC sleeve which glued the sleeve to the plastic and could never be removed again. In case I don’t want to ruin the sleeve totally. Not much to complain about since I’m never going to sell it. Luckily the vinyl wasn’t affected as was the case with the b-side of GG Allin-I Hate You, You Hate me. The GG 7″ I could easily replace, but could’ve been a little bit more difficult with the Koro 7″. My copy came without the insert so Erich was kind enough to send me some scans until I got hold of the originals.

The EP came in a box full of candy from Raunch Records out of Texas in 1986. I’ve traded about 25 copies of my band Raped Teenagers EP for a lot of stuff that I just picked out of random or cause I’ve read good reviews of ‘em in MRR or Flipside: Mecht Mench, Rights of the Accused, Rebel Truth that I can think of right now and Koro. I took 2 copies of everything so my mate Packe aka The TV Eye // Drummer in Raped could have a copy too. Unfortunately I just got one extra mint one of the Koro. Sorry Pat!

There are so many great USHC 7″ from the period 80-83 so it’s really hard to pick a favorite but Koro is for sure Top 5. I can’t think of a single thing that ain’t perfect here. The production, arrangement, song length, lyrics, bas sound, guitar sound and drum sound. And what a drummer they had! Bill was his name. And as a drummer myself you can easily tell this was the HC 7″ to get inspired by together with Virus X from Articles of Faith. Ok there’s more USHC drummers, I know but when it came to technicality drumming Bill and Virus X are in a league of their own(Rhythm Pigs came later for me).

It has been posted before over and over and here you get it again. One can never get enough of Koro. That is  in case you love high quality Hardcore played with enthusiasm and that don’t fall into the trap of aping Discharge or some other HC band that was hot at the time. Non generic HC NOW!

The Edge – S/T E.P. 7″

Saturday, May 16th, 2009

Way too late for the trend The Edge spits out some great melodic Dils flavored punk in the year of the big HC boom. But who cares cause this is great. Really great! I don’t know what happened to the mastering or whatever cause the sound is a bit up and down here and there. Guess it’s punk so… Relocating from Ohio to Boston I guess they tried to make it. Wonder how surprised they where to find that the boy scout scene had started to show it’s ugly face already. -Hu? Where are the non stereotyped punks with an open mind? -Fuck you! We’re shaved and pumped up and do homo erotic dances with other shaved and pumped up boys. And by the way it’s fast or nothing! -Or wait a year and we’ve all grown our hair and gone metal.

If you got anything to share about The Edge don’t be shy. Leave a comment!
